WAYNE RUSSELL
JOHNSTON
Wayne Russell Johnston of
Calgary, Alberta died Nov. 5, 2003.
Born Oct. 3, 1957, in Etobicoke,
he was the son of Reta Johnston and
Bob Elliott of RR2, Blyth and the
late Alvin Johnston. He was the
brother of Paul of Calgary, and father
of Tina and Kyle of Lucknow.
Mr. Johnston will be missed

held its meeting on Monday, Nov. 3 at
the home of Beryl MaeGowan.
Margaret Siertsema led with The
Call to Worship, followed by the
purpose and prayer. Dini Nethery
read scriptures from Psalms and
Isaiah.
O God of Love was the hymn. Mrs.
Siertsema read a story on
Remembrance and how people should
work toward peace.
The secretary and treasurer’s
reports were given and the roll call
was answered by a war story on
remembrance.

Wednesday, Nov. 5 there were five
tables in play at the Women’s Institute
Hall.
Winners were: high lady, Lois

man, Jim Coultes; second high man.

UCW hears Paul’s letter

give to M&S?” Joan read from
Paul’s letter to the Colossians which
reminds about Christ’s compassion
for others. She distributed and led in
the liturgy composed by Pat
Milliken for the 75th anniversary
celebration.
Some interesting facts are that in
2002 $1,454,233 was given to M&S
from UCWs and up to Oct. 1
$1,368,848 has been given by the
UCWs.
Mrs. Golden gave all a rainbow
bookmark thanking the M&S
supporters.

Observer will be increased by $2 per
subscription for the coming year.
Mrs. Wheeler gave a breakdown
of where money had been given thus
far this year. Donations for the
balance of the year were made as
follows: $100 to Cathy Workman for
flowers and decorations; $250 to
M&S.
Fifteen calendars are to be ordered
for the shut-in boxes.
Wednesday, Dec. 10 was
designated as the day to make up the
shut-in boxes.
The Huron-Perth UCW report
information due Nov. 17 was
gathered and is to be sent to Gloria
Dow.
A letter from Marg Livermore was
read regarding a fundraising project.
The Dec. 3 meeting will be held at
the church at 6 p.m. It is a potluck
supper with guests to be invited.
Ken and Laura Scott will be the
speakers showing slides from their
trip to Thailand.
