In what the coach described as
their best effort yet this season the
Brussels Midgets outplayed their
hosts in Mitchell, Nov. 9, but came
up short.

and erratic shooting.”

Brussels edges Blyth 3-2
The Blyth Bantam boys broomball
team played a great game against the
Seaforth Bantam co-ed team on Nov.
8.
Blyth had a 1-0 lead going into the
second half, but unfortunately ended
up losing 2-1 after Seaforth
scored two goals in the second
period.
Blyth’s goal was scored by Matt
Merner and was assisted by Nathan
Salverda.
A win and two ties capped off a
busy week for the Brussels Bantams.
Hosting Blyth on Oct. 29, the
squad scraped out a 3-2 vic
tory.
Brussels took a solid lead in the
first when Christopher Jutzi, assisted
by Nathan Prior and Dan Dwyer,
and Chase Chapman each bulged the
twine.
The defence continued to hold off
the opposition into the second, when
Jutzi. with helpers from Jordan
Campbell and Andrew Baker scored
his second to give his team a three-
point lead.
Blyth got serious, however and
scored two quick ones to narrow the
edge going into the third.
Neither team was able to take it
further, sealing the win for the hosts.
On Nov. 5 Brussels hosted
Drayton in a high-scoring contest.
Jutzi was the story in this one,
getting five of the hosts’ points.
He started things off in the first
with help from Shane Cochrane,and
Tyler Deitner. But two quick goals
from Drayton gave them the edge
going into the second.
Jutzi added two in the second,
assisted by Deitner and Campbell.
However the team couldn’t thwart
the Drayton onslaught which saw
four find the net.
After allowing another in the third,
Brussels got it back together to bring
their tally up by four. Jutzi scored
unassisted, followed by Cochrane,
with an assist to Wade Stephenson
and Deitner. It was Jutzi again just
minutes later set up by Cochrane and
Deitner.
Then with 20 seconds remaining
in the game, Chapman skated in to
tie it 7-7 with assists going to Baker
and Stephenson.
The next night the team travelled
to Milverton.
Jutzi’s scored a hattrick on the
way to this 4-4 tie.
Assists went to Campbell with
two. Baker, Cochrane and Nathan
Prior.
The other goal was scored by
Stephenson with an assists from
Deitner.
