Nov. 7, the team faced-off against a visiting Elma Logan squad and finished in a 5-5 tie. Scoring for Blyth were Rob Archambault and Craig Marks with two each and Justin Dobie. The assists went to Cody Anderson, Micah Loder, Marks and Darrin Austin. Blyth outshot their opponents 35- 20. Goalie for the game was Jeff Elliott. Nov. 9 in exhibition play the team downed Wingham 4-1 away. Loder, Archambault, Shaun Cudmore and Scott Austin lit the light for Blyth. Credited with assists were T.J. Marks, Josh Miller, Derek Cook, Neil Salverda and Archambault. Shots on goal were even with Blyth taking 26 over Wingham’s 25. Goaltender Travis Shelton was exceptional in net keeping his team well ahead of the game. The next exhibition game that day against Clinton saw Blyth come up just short by a score of 5-4. Scoring were C. Marks, Loder, Justin Durnin and Josh Miller. Setting up the plays were Kyle Stephenson. Cudmore with two, Nick Courtney, C. Marks and Tyler Campbell. In net was Elliott. The next home game is Friday, Nov. 21 at 9 p.m. against Clin­ ton. Midgets lose to Mitchell In what the coach described as their best effort yet this season the Brussels Midgets outplayed their hosts in Mitchell, Nov. 9, but came up short. Coach George Langlois said the squad was beaten “by a hot goalie and erratic shooting.” The lone visitor’s goal in this 4-1 outing was scored by Brent Wheeler, assisted by Adam McClure and Greg Bowers. (Vicky Bremner photo) Brussels edges Blyth 3-2 The Blyth Bantam boys broomball team played a great game against the Seaforth Bantam co-ed team on Nov. 8. Blyth had a 1-0 lead going into the second half, but unfortunately ended up losing 2-1 after Seaforth scored two goals in the second period. Blyth’s goal was scored by Matt Merner and was assisted by Nathan Salverda. A win and two ties capped off a busy week for the Brussels Bantams. Hosting Blyth on Oct. 29, the squad scraped out a 3-2 vic­ tory. Brussels took a solid lead in the first when Christopher Jutzi, assisted by Nathan Prior and Dan Dwyer, and Chase Chapman each bulged the twine. The defence continued to hold off the opposition into the second, when Jutzi. with helpers from Jordan Campbell and Andrew Baker scored his second to give his team a three- point lead. Blyth got serious, however and scored two quick ones to narrow the edge going into the third. Neither team was able to take it further, sealing the win for the hosts. On Nov. 5 Brussels hosted Drayton in a high-scoring contest. Jutzi was the story in this one, getting five of the hosts’ points. He started things off in the first with help from Shane Cochrane,and Tyler Deitner. But two quick goals from Drayton gave them the edge going into the second. Jutzi added two in the second, assisted by Deitner and Campbell. However the team couldn’t thwart the Drayton onslaught which saw four find the net. After allowing another in the third, Brussels got it back together to bring their tally up by four. Jutzi scored unassisted, followed by Cochrane, with an assist to Wade Stephenson and Deitner. It was Jutzi again just minutes later set up by Cochrane and Deitner. Then with 20 seconds remaining in the game, Chapman skated in to tie it 7-7 with assists going to Baker and Stephenson. The next night the team travelled to Milverton. Jutzi’s scored a hattrick on the way to this 4-4 tie. Assists went to Campbell with two. Baker, Cochrane and Nathan Prior. The other goal was scored by Stephenson with an assists from Deitner. Crusaders put up good fight The Brussels Crusaders travelled to Thornbury this past Saturday night to play the Georgian Bay River Rats. Thirteen players made the trip and the effort they put forth was a good one. Georgian Bay scored once in the first period and held the lead to early in the second frame as Scott Gillard would score with help from Mike Haggitt. Georgian Bay wold retake the lead five minutes into the period and Brussels would tie it up again nine minutes in as Mike Bromley scored with help from Gillard. On Nov. 3, the team hosted Bayfield, Clinton, Hensall and lost 5-1. Scoring the lone Blyth goal was Dallas Pennington with an assist from Danielle Bean. On Nov. 9, Pennington had a terrific night in Goderich, though his team didn’t fare as well. Pennington scored all five of the visitors’ goals in this 17-5 loss. Assists went to Bean and Colton Kerr.
