Counties art galleries unite
Fine art galleries in Grey, Bruce
and Huron Counties will soon be
offered the opportunity to come
together and share opportunities for
advertising and a yearly, tri-county
promotion.
Speaking on behalf of the newly-
conceived group, Pat Crocker says,
“There are some fine art galleries
from Collingwood to Goderich and
they are as diverse as the individual
artists they represent. It can be a
struggle for independent galleries
offering fine quality original
artwork to develop and maintain an
consistent support network of art
collectors, so we want to establish
an association that will strengthen
its individual members by
generating synergy through
numbers. After all, the presence of
art galleries is an indication of the
cultural health of a community.”
“We are so new, we don’t even
have a name for this group”,
Crocker maintains.
But the founding three galleries -
Gallery deBoer in Owen Sound,
Flesherton’s Left Side Gallery and
Riversong Gallery in Neustadt-have
met and agreed to move forward in
developing a vibrant group that is
project and activity driven.”
The purpose of the association of
galleries is to promote original
artwork through joint
promotion/advertising, corporate
sponsorship and the grant process.
All commercial, full-time
galleries in Grey, Bruce and Huron
Counties that promote the work of
several artists and where the
majority of the work for sale is
original, are invited to participate in
the next founding meeting in
November. Contact Pat Crocker,
Riversong Gallery, 536 Mill Street,
Neustadt, NOG 2M0, 519-799-5498,

information.
