Hoegy recalls that when her eldest child Sean was just small, the family was planning on spending Christmas away from home. "I had decided not to put up a tree that year. But my mom was here for a visit and told me we had to have a tree. She and Merle (Rhonda's husband) went shopping and brought home a real Charlie Brown tree, which she put her heart into decorating. A Christmas home tour in the Hamilton/Brantford area presented a challenge this year, however, as Hoegy said she was inspired to make some changes in the usual holiday • decor. "I get so many ideas from home tours," she said. For example, her banister, decorated in a manner in perfect balance with their home, is a picture of Victorian elegance with poinsettias and ribbons. "Without seeing it on a home tour, I don't know that I would have tried flowers. But I love the look."
