THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2004. From the Minister's Study Christmas story one of amazin love Rev. Dave Wood Huron Chapel E.M.C. The Christmas story is an absolutely amazing love story for it is God, the Creator and Sustainer of all is that. sending His Son. Jesus Christ on a rescue mission to earth. "For God so loved the world that He gave His One and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) This is the heart of the Christmas story and though some would attempt to take the Christ out of Christmas, it is way too late! He came, this wondrous Son of God and He was born of the Virgin just as the Father determined and He walked among us and history records His passing. Grasp if you can the implications of what had transpired in a manger in a little town called Bethlehem. God incarnate, the Creator of all that is, became flesh and blood and walked among us. It is beyond mere human thought and only God could have thought of Christmas. And friends, this gift of the Son comes directly from the heart of God. For Jesus came on a mission and by ,human terms this mission was impossible. but for Jesus, it was His `Vitality isn't there' Continued from page 1 "We're barely making ends meet," Sanders said. "The vitality isn't there anymore. We have 10 per cent of the people doing 80 per cent of the work." Another upcoming cost that St. Michael's is faced with is a building condition preliminary report, which Sanders said "can get really expehsive, up to $1,000." "The report alone is expensive and if there are any repairs needed then we'll have to do the work and spend the money to bring the building up to code." • She said repair costs would have to be raised and paid by the congregation. "Twenty years ago we talked about putting an addition onto the church because we had so many members, not everyone could fit . into the building for Sunday mass. Now we don't even have enough to keep it alive," Sanders said. . As for all the treasured .historic. contents inside the building including candlesticks, statues and artwork, Fr. Johnston said a decision on what will be done with them will be made in the spring. He said the Diocese of London and St. Michael's parishioners will make a joint decision on what will he done with the artifacts. "These artifacts are sacred to the people and will not be thrown away in yard sale," he said. goal, His passion, His plan. Even though it led Him to that place called Calvary, even though it cost Him His very life blood and great pain . . . the mission was accomplished and hope was reborn. No wonder the angels could come as the heralds of Almighty God with the message. "Do not be afraid. I bring news of great joy that will be for all the people." Joy had entered time and space, the rescue mission had begun. We are living in perilous times. It seems everywhere you look there is evidence of uncertainty and fear. Hope for many has become a byword in this society. The words of the angel continue to ring true in 2004 and will stand true throughout eternity. Hope has come and the Resaier is present for Jesus is no helpless infant but is the radiant Son of God Who loves us and through His sacrifice offers to us the greatest gift, the gift of eternal life. This is Christmas! This is still the reason for the season, a cause to celebrate for hope has been wrapped up in love and Jesus continues to offer it to all who would come. This Christmas, open your heart to Jesus and experience in Him the words of angels, "news of great joy!" Merry Christmas and God bless us everyone! (even Fran and the one I am not supposed to make mention of!) (Oh yeah, Fran, the Christmas Eve candlelight service is at 7:30 p.m. in Auburn and seats will be reserved for you so don't forget like you did last year!)
