Brussels Livestock report
Choice fed steers sell on active trade
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Dec.
17 were 3.690 head of cattle. 1,837
lambs and goats. On Tuesday the
choice fed steers and heifers sold on
a strong active trade while the sec-
ond-cut steers and heifers sold $1
lower. Choice steers and heifers
sold $77 to $82 with sales to
$103.75. Second-cut steers and
heifers sold $74 to $77. The cows
sold at prices steady to last week.
On Thursday the veal sold on an
active trade with prices slightly
lower than last week. The lambs
sold on a strong active trade. On
Friday all weights and classes of
stockers sold at prices steady to last
week.
There were 597 steers on offer.
One gold steer consigned by Amos
Frey. Wallenstein, weighed 1,400
lbs. which sold for $94.75. His
overall offering of fourteen steers
averaged 1,453 lbs. selling for an
average price of $89. Darren
Johnston, Bluevale, consigned one
blue steer weighing 1,260 lbs.
which sold for $93. Ten limousin
steers consigned by Levi M
Bauman. St. Clements, averaged
1,483 lbs. selling for an average
price of $87.46 with sales up to
$92.75. Jayme Reid, Tiverton, con-
signed three limousin steers averag-
ing 1500 lbs. which sold for $87.
Eight limousin steers consigned
by Enoch Martin, Linwood, aver-
aged 1,428 lbs. selling for an aver-
age price of $86.15 with sales to
$88.75. Twelve steers consigned by
K.C. McAlpine, Ailsa Craig, aver-
aged 1,510 lbs. which sold for an
average price of $81.42 with his top
gold steer weighing 1,475 lbs. sell-
ing for $90.25. Amon M. Martin.
Millbank, consigned one limousin
steer weighing 1,280 lbs. which
sold for $92. His overall offering of
seven steers averaged 1,356 lbs.
selling for an average price of
$80.60.
Eight charolais steel's consigned
by Ed Jack. Dundalk, averaged
1,185 lbs. selling for an average
price of $80 with sales to $92.75.

1,336 lbs. selling for an average
price of $77.16 with her top limou-
sin steer weighing 1,255 lbs. selling
for $87.75.
There were 545 heifers on offer.
K & A Beef Farms, Wroxeter, con-
signed one blue heifer weighing
1,285 lbs. which sold for $103.75.
Eight limousin heifers consigned by
Tobias S. Bowman, Wallenstein,
averaged 1.200 lbs. which sold for
an average price of $87.43 with
sales up to $89. Andy VanderVeen,
Blyth, consigned three limousin
heifers averaging 1,280 lbs. which
sold for $85.75. His overall offering
of five heifers averaged 1,263 lbs.

$85.55.
Ron Dougall, Exeter, consigned
seven gold heifers averaging 1,353
lbs. which sold to Dominion Meat
Packers for $86. His overall offer-
ing of twenty-four heifers averaged
1,288 lbs. selling for an average
price of $83.52.
Six limousin heifers consigned by
Murray Dufton, Thorndale, aver-
aged 1,248 lbs. selling for an aver-
age price of $82.03 with sales to
$87.25. Lewington Farms, Brussels,
consigned one limousin heifer
weighing 1,245 lbs. which sold for
$85.75. Their overall offering of
seventeen heifers averaging 1,265
lbs. selling for an average price of
$81.83. Three gold/limousin heifers
consigned by Gilbert Janssen,
Hanover, averaged 1,172 lbs. which
sold to Dominion Meat Packers for
$83.75. His overall offering of nine
heifers averaged 1,173 lbs. selling
for an average price of $80.28.
One black heifer consigned by M-
R Farms, Exeter, weighed 1,265 lbs.
which sold to Holly Park Meat
Packers for $84.50. Their overall
offering of five heifers averaged
1,274 lbs. selling for an average
price of $80.11. Robert McCool,
Londesborough, consigned one lim-
ousin heifer weighing 1,295 lbs.
which sold for $84.75. His overall
offering of two heifers averaged
1.380 lbs. selling for an average
price of $79.05. Three gold heifers
consigned by Tom Hem, Woodham,
averaged 1,343 lbs. selling for an
average price of $78.66 with sales
to $84.25.
There were 280 cows on offer. DI
and D2 cows sold $20 to $25 with
sales to $41; D3, $15 to $20; D4,
$10 to $15; shell cows, $5 to $8.
Jamie Pentland, Parkhill, consigned
one limousin cow weighing 1,130
lbs. which sold for $41. Seven beef
cows consigned by Henry Versteeg,
Wingham, averaged 1,209 lbs. sell-
ing for an average price of $20.85
with his top two red cow averaging
1,045 lbs. selling for $30. Jason
Pentland, Parkhill, consigned one
black cow weighing 1,435 lbs.
which sold for $27.
There were 19 bulls on offer sell-
ing $15 to $31.50 with sales to $47.
Norma Preece, Wyoming, con-
signed one red/maine anjou bull
weighing 1,605 lbs. which sold for
$47.50. One red bull consigned by
Grey Luyten and Sandra Dodd,
Wingham, weighed 1,235 lbs. sell-
ing to Denview Livestock for
$31.50. -
There were 169 head of veal on
offer. Good holstein sold $90 to
$105 with sales to $108; medium
holstein, $60 to $80; plain and
heavy holstein, $50 to $60. Eric
Nonkes, Auburn, consigned one
blonde veal steer weighing 700 lbs.
which sold for $115.
One black wf veal steer consigned
by George Ducharme, Dashwood,
weighed 690 lbs. selling to
Newmarket Meat Packers for $114.
