Over the pas few years, the use of candles in the home has greatly increased —
and so has the number of fires caused by candle misuse. The Ontario fire service
offers the following tips for the safe use of candles.
Secure your candlas in sturdy holders and, if possible, place glass chimneys or
shades on them. Keep lit candles out of the reach of children and pets. and well
away from any combustible materials. An unattended candle is an invitation to
disaster, so don't forget to snuff out your candles before leaving the room or
going to bed.
Remember to keep all matches and lighters out of the sight and reach of children.

The week has been busy at the
Brussels Legion starting with the
Lions Club's Christmas party on
Monday evening. There were nearly

her grandson, who is blind, and the
difficulties they encounter in every

The Wait is nearly over, the
excitement all around is pretty high
and the child in each of us can hardly
hold on. Just another sleep or two
and Christmas 2004 will be here.
Memories of the past, mix nicely
with the reality of our today as we
celebrate this blessed time. It's
December. Advent is nearly over and
Christmas is just ready to go. Each
of us is unique and so we find joy in
our own way. Embrace those around
you, and celebrate all the special,
weird, funny, sentimental and sacred
things that make your Christmas oh
so Merry!
The reason for this season was the
birth of a baby, eons ago in a far off
place. Like all legends and stories,
we hear things in our own way with
our own ears. It seems to me that as
every Christmas comes to pass a
baby is born in our midst as a
reminder of the Bethlehem story.
This . natural, loving event is
another way to renew our faith.
Birth, and life itself is a miracle and
it continues to be a daily surprise in
spite of ourselves.
A new baby has been born in a far
away place and she too has already
brought great joy. Miss Erin
Boynton made her natal debut on
Dec. 9 in a far-away place — Alberta.
Nicole and Jeff are in awe of their
masterpiece and Dave, Jeanette and
Jody are pleased that they will not
need to travel by donkey to view
their newest relative. When a baby is
born so are parents and grandparents
with the responsibility to pass on the
traditions of family. So to Jeff,
Nicole, Jeanette and Dave enjoy
your new positions, given to you
only by your Christmas baby — Erin.
Yes babies give the world joy and
reason.
Children are the true gifts of
Christmas — their very presence
gives energy and enthusiasm to any
occasion. As the holidays are spent,
spend some time with children and
attractive look to downtown. Judges
selected it for its understated
approach to achieve maximum
impact. "They made good use of the
corner location and large storefront
windows putting together a look that
is warm and cheerful."
let their love of life rub off on you.
You'll need to sleep right after the
visit but it is worth every minute.
Family gatherings are taking place
all about as food and laughter are
shared giving us an opportunity to
celebrate family and love. May your
celebrations be made up of moments
that leave you with good memories
of 2004.
Peter Workman has landed and
brought some pretty fine fish to
share with old friends. He thinks our
complaints of minus 26 are a joke
and talked abOut his southern coat
and what cold temperatures really
are. Good to have you home for the
holidays Peter.
Enjoy the many Days of Christmas
with family and friends and may
laughter be part of every gathering.
Merry Christmas to All!
