1 Dance the night away It was a full house at the Blyth Festival on Dec. 11 for the annual Memories of a Jubilee Christmas, a two-our recreation of CBC's hit TV show Don Messer's Jubilee. Kicking off the fun were toe-tapping fiddle performances followed by Buchta style dancing. These dancers had the audience cheering by the end of their routine. (Elyse DeBruyn photo) Merry Christmas In preparation for the big night, students from Grey Central Public School put their acting abilities to the test during the dress rehearsal on Dec. 7. PAGE 27 HCP receives funding approval An organization that promotes Huron County's rich arts, heritage and culture will get an $11,212 boost from the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation (OTMP). Heritage and Cultural Partnership (HCP), a partner of Huron Tourism Association, has received approval of its application for a third year of funding from OTMP's Industry Partnership Proposal Program, which supports innovative and co-operative marketing programs that increase revenue generated by tourism. "We are pleased to partner in this research-driven marketing program that reinforces tourism as a strong economy in Huron County," said Huron-Bruce MPP Mitchell. "Since tourism is considered to be one of the three pillars of Huron County's economy, along with manufacturing and agriculture, an increase in tourists can also have a significant impact on the local economy." Funds in the cost-sharing marketing project that totals more than $28,000 will be used to advertise in various media outlets for the 2005 season. About $16,800 will be contributed primarily .from the 45 members in HCP, which brings together businesses and organizations that are rich in arts, heritage and culture. "It's reassuring that OTMP recognizes the potential in promoting Huron County to the emerging market of mature travellers who are interested in exploring arts, heritage and culture. Without their support, our comprehensive marketing plan would not be possible," said Heather Boa, co- ordinator, HCP.
