North Huron council briefs
Council approves payment for Auburn Hall
North Huron council at its Dec. 6
meeting approved the payment of
$279.87 to Central Huron to cover
25 per cent of the shortfall in
budgeting for capital costs to the
Auburn Hall. ***
Bills and accounts totalling
$438,748.11 were approved for
payment.

Director of public works Ralph
Campbell will attend the annual
conference of the Drainage
Superintendents Association of
Ontario in London, Jan. 24-27. The
registration fee of $80 will be paid
by the township.
***
Prices will be obtained for a diesel
fuel tank and 12-volt pump for the
generator behind the municipal
building.
***
A meeting will be held Dec. 20
with representatives from Central
Huron to discuss the Blyth-Hullett
landfill site.
***
An update was given on the
Belgrave water system. A board of
management will be formed. Morris-
Turnberry will own the new water
system and the rates will be
standardized.
***
Council endorses a letter from T.
Arnott MPP, supporting double
hatter firefighters.
***
A resolution from Huron East with
respect to protecting children from
sexual exploitation over the internet
was endorsed.
***
Council gave support to a
resolution from the Twp. of
Algonquin Highlands asking the
Ministry of the Environment and the
Government of Ontario to
implement a system of deposit
returns for all metal, glass and
plastic beverage containers and give
serious consideration to mandating
reusable plastic drink containers.
***
A resolution from the Twp. of
Adjala-Tosorontio asking the
province to support the dairy farmers
and rural community in general, and
to re-instate the DHI funding
immediately received council's
endorsement.
***
Council endorsed a resolution
from the Twp. of Augusta directed to
the Minister of Finance and the
province.
The request was for the gas tax
allocation to be re-examined and
distributed so that municipalities
without public transportation would
also be assisted.
A second resolution from Augusta
asking the province to either leave
the CRF allocation as it' is with
somewhat the same funding formula
or replace it with some other form
that would be comparable was
supported by council.
