H. McClure
greets
at Duff's
Worshippers at Duff's United
Church were greeted by Heidi
McClure on the third Sunday of
Advent.
The Advent wreath candle
lighting was done by Val and David
Pethick. The first three verses of the
hymn A Candle is Burning was
sung. The senior choir sang Still, a
Bach Christmas.
Dianne McCallum presented the
minute for missions. She told the
story of a couple who worked for
the mission and service fund in
other countries. They travelled
across Canada atteqding church,
UCW and Presbytery meetings,
reporting on hclw wisely the
mission and service money is spent.
It is used wisely in countries to
provide food, ediication, water
development, medicine,
reforestation to help improve the
lives of the poor.
Rev. Joan Tuchlinsky's reflection
was on the story of Mary. When
Mary mound she was with child she
broke into song, happy for the new
life in her. She knew God was
working through her, and that his
power wuuld be revealed and that
the transformation of the world
through the birth of this Baby
would begin.
God works in unexpected ways.
God's mysterious love works in
surprising ways, said Rev. Joan.
The offering was received by
Karen Hoegy and Murray Dennis.
A coffee hour was enjoyed after
the church service and the
Christmas newsletter was available
to all.
Both the senior and junior choirs
of Duff's United Church
