The Brussels Bantams squeaked
out a victory over Drayton AE on
home ice Dec. 12
Solid goaltending by Ryan Smith
and a strong team effort contributed
to the positive outcome.

the first, Ben Gowing, set up by
Taylor Prior and Wade Stephenson
On Saturday, Dec. 4 the Mildmay
Redwings came to Blyth to play
broomhall against the Dynamites.
The local Pee Wee team was
fortunate to be wearing brand new
green jerseys.
Mildmay had a very strong
defense line, keeping the ball in
Blyth's end for a large part of the
game. In the first period, Brent Drost
received a pass from forward,
Jessica Kuik. He had a breakaway,
but Mildmay was hot on his trail. He
took a hard shot and scored a goal
skated in to tie it.
The visitors took the lead again
the second, but Tyler Deitner with an
assist from Stephenson evened the
score just minutes later. Stephenson
then put the hosts in the lead for the
first time in the game, with an assist
from Gowing, only to see it
cancelled by Drayton with less than
for Blyth.
Blyth's goalkeeper Courtney Bos
was really sharp and played an
outstanding game. Mildmay kept
pounding balls in her direction and
she only let one slip past her.
Mildmay scored this goal in the last
four minutes of the game, ending the
action in a 1-1 tie.
Coaches Harry Otten, Chas Bos
and Mary Ann Drost say they have
seen a definite improvement in all
players compared to the last time
they played this team in Mildmay.
The Clinton Wheel 'n Dealers

five minutes to go in the period.
Drayton got more insurance with
an early third-period goal. But
Brussels refused to roll over.
Stephenson, with an assist from
Evan Ducharme poked in the tie-
maker with minutes to go. in the
game.
Then as the seconds ticked down,
Gowing and Stephenson set up
Ducharme who lit the light for the
game-winning goal.
The final score was 5-4 for
Brussels.
