now.
It's fascinating to watch the mood
of this season take hold. First a little
advertiSing and a few lights go up.
Then Halloween is over and the full-
page advertisements begin in the city
papers. Remembrance Day passes
and the artificial trees begin to
bloom in living rooms in our world.
The Santa Claus parade is over and
the majority of outside decorations
The Majestic Women's Institute
met at the Walton Inn for its
Christmas meeting at noon.
Following the WI grace a turkey
dinner was enjoyed by the 16
people present.
Following the Ode and Mary
Stewart Collect the president,
Kathy Bridge, thanked the staff for
the dinner. The secretary, Leona
Armstrong read the minutes of the
October and November meetings

The Christmas potluck and gift
exchange is Friday night. There is
voluntary participation for the gift
exchange. Bring a wrapped gift ($10
value) and take part in the fun.
Last Friday night's supper of
sausage and sauerkraut went over
very well. Dinners will resume on
Jan. 7 with Hungarian goulash on
the menu.
The Thursday night darters had a
good turnout with lots of laughs.
The first-place team was Julie
Harrison and Adam Smith. A tie for
second resulted in Bush Whittard
and Marlene Little defeating John
Harrison and Catrina Josling. The

The Christmas boxes for the
shut-ins will be packed on Friday,
Dec. 10 at Huronlea at 9:30 a.m.

It's time for membership dues to be

serious now and the mood is ecstatic

When the Christmas concerts are
in session it is time to get serious and
that is when the common greeting is
no longer "Hello" — it becomes "Are
you ready for Christmas?"
Since September the commercial
world has tried to force buying with
ever-increasing ads but good old
human nature is able to resist and do
things as the need arises. There's
something about the last few hours
craft show and sale on April 6 at
the Listowel Legion. Huron East is
to make a quilt for this sale and
Majestic WI members are to make
a craft to the value of $10.
The next UFO Day will be at the
home of Kathy Bridge on Dec. 14
at 10 a.m. The January UFO Day
will be at the home of Lucy Hesse
on Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. Anyone
going to this is asked to bring a
piece of' gingham and embroidery
paid. The sports sheet for euchre is
up. Comrades wishing to play need
to sign up.
New Year's Eve tickets are at the
Branch. There will be a potluck
lunch. Admission is $5.
