PAGE 18. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2004. Friends and neighbours wish Bill Coultes a speedy recovery. Bill was a patient in the Owen Sound and the Wingham hospitals. He has recently returned home. Shawn and Chris Cottrill, Byron Horton and Elliott Miller recently won the zone curling bonspiel held at Palmerston. They also played in the regional curling bonspiel held at St. Catharines and lost by a couple of points. It was an enjoyable weekend for the group of 16 including friends and family. They all travelled to Niagara Falls and saw the beautiful Christmas lights and the new Casino. On Sunday, Dec. 5 the Campbell relatives held their annual Christmas celebration at the WI Hall with Bruce and Linda Campbell in charge. After a bountiful smorgasbord dinner games, trivia and show and tell were enjoyed. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived later to hand out gifts to the young and the young at heart. Many picture albums were on hand and a time of fellowship was enjoyed. A beautiful day was brought to a close by Lorne Campbell and Gladys VanCamp entertaining with many slides of years gone by. Community worship held A Christmas community worship was held at the Community Centre on Sunday, Dec. 5. Rev. Miner Ethel Clare welcomed everyone, then proceeded with the Call to Worship read responsively. The Opening Prayer was read in uni- son. 0 Come, 0 Come Emmanuel, While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks, Angels From the Realms of Glory, Away in a Manger. and Silent Dr. Alma Conn By Stew Slater Special to The Citizen The date of Wednesday, Dec. 15 has been set for the first meeting of the committee charged with study- ing the potential closure of St. Joseph's Catholic elementary school in Kingsbridge, north of Goderich. At the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board's annual inau- gural meeting, Monday, Dec. 6, two trustee representatives were chosen for Kingsbridge's Accommodation Review Advisory Committee. According to board policy, this com- mittee must examine information about the school and seek public input before providing a report and recommendations to the board 'in February, 2005. The policy also stipulates that the Night were sung accompanied by Donna Shaw at the piano. Rev. Miner Clare read the scripture from Isaiah 11. An advent sketch was presented by Vangie Spears. Davis Shaw, Laim Henderson, Sinclair Wardrop and Rev. Wayne Beamer from Wingham United Church and Camerra Yuill and Les Shaw from Knox United Church, Belgrave. Dr. Alma Conn has been elected president of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario. The col- lege is the provincial regulatory and licensing body for Ontario's 3700 veterinarians. Dr. Conn graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1974. After graduation, she moved to Saskatchewan where she worked in a large animal practice and embryo transplant centre. From 1976 to 1980, she worked part-time in Kincardine, Ontario and from 1981 to 2003 practised in Blyth. This is Dr. Conn's sixth year on council. She has served on the exec- utive, nominating, accreditation and discipline committees. The College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) regulates the practice of veterinary medicine in Ontario to protect the public interest. The CVO licenses veterinarians, inspects and accredits veterinary facilities and investigates complaints against vet- erinarians. The CVO also establish- es and maintains standards of prac- tice. board chair should be one of the Advisory Committee members, and one other trustee must serve. That means newly-selected chair Bernard Murray, who was acclaimed for the 2004-05 term during the inaugural meeting, will serve on the commit- tee. Trustees also approved the selec- tion of Northwest Huron representa- tive Mary-Catherine McKeon as the other trustee representative' on the committee. St. Joseph's lies within McKeon's trustee jurisdiction. According to Murray, the board has not yet received notification of who will represent the school com- munity on the Advisory Committee. He noted, however, that the school's principal has been directed to seek such representation, following approval last month of a motion to create the committee. Former Blyth vet elected president of vet college Date set for meeting to discuss closure of St. Joseph's school
