P. McCallum greets at Duff
Greeting worshippers at Duff's
United Church was Pearl
McCallum. The Advent wreath
lighting was conducted by Jackie
and Joelle Glanville.
The time for the young at heart
dealt with the tradition of Christmas
stockings. One story believes that
St. Nicholas, a bishop of the church
who was known for his care and
concern of children and others in
need, started the tradition. He was
thought to have thrown coins down
the chimney to help a family in need
and the coins landed in a stocking

Brad Knight, Huron East
treasurer-finance minister, gave an
overview of the upcoming 2005
budget, outlining potential areas of
difficulty. Councillors agreed Nov.
30, that there was a need to wait for
all 2004 figures to be finalized
before they can possibly review and
pass an accurate budget. Therefore,
the new budget will not be dealt with
until January 2005.

David Blaney, councillor for the
Brussels ward, pointed out that
Brussels' storm system was also
inclusive and ought to be
considered. He was assured that it
was on the list and had been
considered but it doesn't have the
same level of priority.
Council did move however, to
accept public works co-ordinator

budget).

The children gathered the gifts

them at the front of the church.
These will be taken to the Huron

The choir sang a Christmas song.

Congratulations also to first-time
grandparents Don and Pat Dalton.
Brussels-Grey seems to be one of the
larger issues in the budget, council
has decided that there is a need to
deal with this issue independently.
As deputy-mayor Bernie MacLellan
stated, "I am not going to go to them
(Brussels-Grey) and say they have to
pay more than Seaforth." "Brussels
does a lot of fundraising."
Seaforth has a trust fund that
should be looked toward for
contributions since it didn't pay for
previous work/upgrades. Joe
Steffler, councillor for Seaforth
ward, added that there are other
municipalities making use of the
facilities and they are named on a list
of required contributors. Council
agreed that this list should also be
reviewed and assessed to clarify
participation and contribution levels,
etc.
In reviewing the change to
ambulance services from a part time
system to a full time one, there was
an evident savings in revenue. The
Ontario government however, has
ways to end violence.
Rev. Joan Tuchlinsky explained
about three different venues people
could become involved in that

communities and the global
world.
