The Brussels Midgets had a mixed
week in hockey competition.
Dec. 3 the team edged Elma-Logan
on home ice. Greg Bowers struck
firstior the hosts with an early first-
period goal. Jordan Campbell was
creditted with the assist. Less than
two minutes later Shayne Cochrane
set up Matt White who skated in to
score. Then in the final minutes
before the buzzer, Brent Wheeler
bulged the twine with an assist by
Adam McClure, to put the Brussels
squad up by three going into the
second.
The visitors held back to the
onslaught through the middle period,
while managing to come one closer.
Then in the third, Elma-Logan
pulled within one point in the early
going, but Wheeler, with assists from
McClure and White gave the hosts
some insurance. In the dying
minutes, the visitors snuck one more
past the Brussels goalie, but it was
not enough and the hosts took the 4-3
win.
The Midgets were down several
regular players in this game, with two
out injured and two others keeping
other commitments. This showed,
coaches say, as the squad got off to a
solid start, but seemed to run down in
the later going.
Dec. 4, was not a good day in
Wallace as the Midgets came home
on the losing side of a 9-2 score.
Brussels was scoreless through the
first, then Cochrane finally lit the
light mid-way through the middle
period with helpers going to McClure
and Chase Chapman.
White's third-period goal was the
end of the scoring for Brussels in this
effort.

The Blyth Atom girls travelled to
Mount Forest on Saturday, Nov. 27.
They met another tough team but
couldn't pull off the win despite the
efforts of goalie Becca Chalmers,
who was kept busy in net, and had
many good saves.
The girls met up with Ripley on
Nov. 29 and had several chances to
put the puck in the net by Alisha
Middegaal, Ashley Higgins and
Lauren Cronin but they couldn't get
the puck to do what they wanted it
to.

Reid and Chloe Middegaal. Also

but Blyth couldn't capture the win.
Despite the losses, the girls are still
enjoying the game of hockey and
improving every day.
The team enjoyed some time
together off the ice, as they attended
the National Women's Hockey game
in Goderich on Sunday. A good time
was had by the girls and their
families.
