The Blyth Atom girls hockey team
also known as The Blyth Ice Dogs
had another exciting game on
Saturday in Kincardine.
The Kincardine team was very
strong but Blyth showed them that
they had some spunk.
Blyth had a couple of breakaways
by Ashley Higgins and Alisha
Middegaal but Kincardine stopped
the girls from scoring. There was
good defensive play by Laura
Higgins, Raven Phalen, Jeanette
Plaetzer, Chloe Middegaal and
Justine Reid.
Rebecca Chalmers managed to
win a few faceoffs while Lauren
Cronin and Kelsey Kerr helped
move the puck down to the other end
in an attempt to score. Courtney

by Middegaal adding another goal
to complete her hattrick.
With almost two minutes
remaining in the period Cody Kedy
popped one between the pipes to
give Blyth its final goal.
Bayfield did come back just after
that getting one goal by goalie
Kennan MacDonald, however, it
was not enough to stop Blyth's
strong performance.
On Nov. 14 Blyth PeeWees
travelled to Lucknow and took an 8-
2 loss.
On Nov. 15 they played on home
ice and had a much better game
against Kincardine. During the first
period Blyth got on the scoreboard
with an unassisted goal by Cody
Ducharme. A few minutes later
Dana Teed scored with assists
credited to Aaron Popp and Colton
Kerr.
Kincardine came back and scored
four goals in the first period.
Blyth did not give up. Great
goaltending by Andrew Bailey and
defensive playing by Shawna Popp.
Andrew. Hess. Jeff Plaetzer, Ryan
Sjaarda and Trevor Raynard, helped
hold Kincardine through the second
and third periods.
Although they lost 4-2 it was a
great team effort. Also helping out
were Jordan Bakelaar, Janneke
Barten, Daniel Elliott, Martin Ellis
and Loretta Thompson. Coaches are
Travis Teed and Calvin Bakelaar.
Novices

Seaforth
On Nov. 18, the Blyth Novices
edged Seaforth on home ice.
Seaforth scored the only goal of
the first period, which fortunately
for the hosts proved to be the last
they could get passed Dog goalie
Michael VanWyk.
Spencer Stevenson scored
unassisted in the second period to
tie the game, then Wyatt Carey's
third-period goal put the hosts
ahead. Assisting were Trystan
Weber and Alex Peters.

On Thursday, Nov. 18 Blyth
hosted Mildmay and continued its
winning streak. There were no goals
scored in the first period, so the
action began in the second when

Brandon-Caldwell and Ellis. Kedy
kept the momentum going early in
the third when he recorded Blyth's
Brussels Tykes had their first
home game on Nov. 20.

what they had by pulling off a
victory against Zurich 10-2. Scott
Dolmage took his turn in net and did
a great job.
Scoring the goals were Mitch
Kellington with an outstanding
second goal. Brandon-Caldwell
assisted on this goal.
It appeared that goalie Heidi
Raynard was going to enjoy a
shutout, however with only 16
seconds remaining Mildmay scored,
giving a final score of 2-1 for Blyth.

Wes Thompson, Nathan Verburg
and Ronnie Vercruyssen.
