at euchre party
The Blyth Atom Girls hockey
team played its first game of the
season on Saturday, Nov. 13 in
Walkerton.
Jessie Walton was in net for Blyth
and was kept very busy. -She made a
number of great saves, but Blyth
still suffered a loss to the strong
Walkerton team.
The girls played again on Sunday,
having their first home game.
Rebecca Chalmers was between the
pipes this time and also faced a great
number of shots. The game resulted
in a loss again for the team but that
hasn't discouraged the players who
came out of the dressing room all
smiles and ready for some more
exciting hockey ahead.
The team members are: Rebecca
Chalmers, Lauren Cronin, Ashley
Higgins, Laura Higgins, Kelsey
Kerr, Alisha Middegaal, Chloe
Middegaal, Courtney Middegaal,
Raven Phalen, Justine Reid and
Jessie Walton. The team's coach is
Nicole Walker, assistant coach is
Rod Marshall, trainer is Wanda
Walton and manager' is Doug
Walker.
The Blyth hockey group is
pleased to have a girls hockey team
for the first time ever.
The girls' next game is Saturday,
Dec. 4 at 1 p.m.
On Nov. 10 the Blyth PeeWees
played a great game against Ripley
winning 10-1.
The team played well with great
passing. Goaltender, Andrew Bailey
was solid between the pipes.
In the first period the lone goal
was scored unassisted by Daniel
Elliott. Ripley came back and scored
their one and only.
The second period goals were
tallied by Martin Ellis with three,
Jordan Bakelaar and Dana Teed.

Thompson, Aaron Popp, Cody

Third period goal scorers were
Bakelaar with two, Martin Ellis and

There were five tables of euchre in
play on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at the
Women's Institute Hall.
