Wednesday almost 30 Brussels
Legion Comrades gathered to pay
their respects and participate in the
Legion service for the late Comrade
Dave Taylor. A service was
conducted by Padre Joan Golden.
Comrade Julie Harrison gave the
eulogy which portrayed Dave
exactly as he was, a helpful, devoted
and humorous presence who will be
missed by all Comrades.
Music was provided by Comrade
Donald Dunbar. Lunch was
Talk about having blessed weather
in November. This has to be the best.
Drives in the country give a great
view. of the buildings often not
observed because of the trees or the
snow squalls. So accept this
November gift with a great big
smile.
The students at Madill secondary
SChool were showing their talents in
the arts department last week. With
their voices and talents in fine form
they did a great job of offering
Nunsense the musical. Many laughs
provided by the Branch. A social
time followed with a chance for
everyone to meet Dave and
Shirley's family members.
Remembrance Day services were
observed on Thursday, Nov. 11. The
colour party marched the colours in
place at 10:30 a.m. Following the
national anthem and prayer was a
scripture reading. The 37
Remembrance wreaths were laid by
individuals, organizations and
churches. This was followed by the
placing of the poppies by Comrades
were available as their hours of
practice, fine tuned, were offered to
the public at the Heritage Theatre.
Names on the program showed
several students from our area who
were volunteering their time to learn
life skills. The musical was well
done and the many students who
looked after the details made it a
success. Parents and supporters
enjoyed all the fine work in the four
performances offered. Good job.
The BMG Community Centre was
supported on Saturday night by
dancing feet. The smooth music of
Ken Scott and crew had folks up
dancing by 8 p.m. and they weren't
ready to quit when it was the
Cinderella hour. Lights on and lunch
by the former catering club got the
folks to realize the night was
winding down.
Be sure to help fill the blue barrels
available at each church in our
community as well, as the rack at
and others present.
The Last Post and two minutes of
silence were observed at 11 a.m.
followed by Reveille and the
Benediction.
The Colour Party and Brussels
Pipe Band led the parade to the
Brussels United Church for a
service of worship. Comrades,
veterans and family were present to
take part in Rev. Joan's service
entitled Remembering.
Everyone was welcomed back to

Foodland in support of the North
Huron food bank. We have several
hundred families in our area who
need to use the food bank and we
can help with their November drive.
Practices are in session for the
Advent season, which is fast
approaching, as we prepare worship
services and concerts in anticipation
of Christmas.
Seasonal decorations are up and lit
and the Wish Book is becoming
worn at a few houses.
If this weather keeps up I may be
forced to-do some of those jobs that
I try to leave for the snow cover.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
