PAGE 2. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2004.
The mitts and hats are out. The
sunny day turned into a snow-
filled night and the scrapers were
a needed piece of driving
equipment. Snow season is here.
The cmbines and hunters were
out and about last week and made
for interesting drives in the
country. The quiet country roads
were spots of .activity as the
orange vests did their tours. The
huge combines in several colours
patrolled the fields catching the
beans and corn for the harvest.
There was fun and laughter to
spare as the United Church
celebrated the 128th anniversary
of the congregation this past
weekend. Bears of all shapes and
sizes (just like our members)
were ready for sale on Saturday
along with tea and lots of fun.
Zach Hoegy and Andrew Watson
were the auctioneers and had a
fine effect as they pulled money
from a willing crowd. What
potential we have in our midst.
On Sunday the worship centred
on how our history is rnade and
how each of us starts our own
timeline. Joan Golden talked
about our church history and how
we celebrate with dearly loved
and different hymns, varied
stories and remembered events —
each in our own time
The celebration continued as
the Schneider Male Chorus raised
the roof with their excellent,
harmony. Rapt attention of a full
church audience was the reward
of the folks based in Kitchener.
Their conductor Laurie
Rowbotham was generous in his
praise for the acoustics of our
dearly loved old building and the
men sang with their usual
excellence.
We had a wonderful
anniversary weekend. Thanks to
all the attenders and workers.
Lots of visitors were in the
village on the weekend to support
minor hockey, the Legion and the
Figure Skating folks in their
endeavours to make life just a
little bit more enjoyable. Folks
were able to take part in hockey
games, fun sale tables and
auctions as well as a dance. Lots
to do for everyone.
Tithe to sit back and watch the
snow.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
At the Branch FROM BRUSSELS
Weekend craft show, bake sale reports success
By Jo-Ann McDonald
The Brussels Legion Branch and
comrades were saddened with the
news of the passing of Comrade
Dave Taylor. Dave and his wife
Shirley have been supporters of
other Branch for many years. They
ran the Saturday meat draws and
could be counted on to help when
needed.
Dave always welcomed all who
came into the Branch and kept the
rest of us on our toes with his wit
and knowledge of what was going
on. Dave will be missed by
everyone. Our condolences to his
