(Photo submitted) PEOPLE AROUND LONDESBORO By BRENDA RADFORD Call 523-4296 The Londesborough Happy Gang Seniors met for a mid-day potluck meal on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the Londesborough Community Hall. Phyllis Tyndall gave an interesting • report on the seniors rally she attended in Seaforth on Oct. 14. During the business part of the afternoon the group made plans for their Christmas .gathering on Wednesday, Nov. 24. Those attending that festive meal are asked to remember the less fortunate by bringing along an item for the food bank. Regular members of the group War artisans workshop On Wednesday, Oct. 27, the Grade painting, and many were able to 7 and 8 class at Hullett Central produce very good work. The Public School were the beneficiaries students at Hullett expressed their of an excellent, informative, and fun workshop presented by Wendy O'Brien, a local artist from the Stratford area. O'Brien introduced the students to the war artisans by showing them many fine examples of the works produced by artisans who actually travelled to the trenches of the front lines of World War I and II to draw their impressions of the terrors of war, and what it looked like "first hand". The students learned that once these artisans had completed their sketches in the trenches, they returned to London, England, where they would spend months painting their pieces of work, which were very realistic and haunting. As the day wore on, the students were able to try their hand at drawing an "impressionist" style Woman reports on fall rally Continued from page 10 Betty Hulley gave an interesting report on the Fall Rally in Stratford on Oct. 4 attended by herself and Laura Scott. The next UCW meeting will be Nov. 15 and tray favours will be on the agenda that evening. Christmas season and would appreciate your prayers as they heal. Joanne Lyon is convalescing following hip surgery in Owen Sound. Reta Kelland is.currently in Owen Sound Hospital, having had a hip replacement. At time of reporting, Frank Johnston is still a patient in Victoria Hospital in London recovering from surgery for a hernia. Marie Glousher had a knee replaced recently but has experienced complications and is back in hospital. Keep these folks in your thoughts for the next little while. Ben Driscoll (527-2937) is looking for a combine operator with combine to take off two acres of corn for the Londesborough United Church Food Grains Project. Nov. 7 will be Remembrance Sunday at Londesborough United Church. at HCPS thanks to the Foundation for Enrichment of Education for making the visit a possibility. are invited to donate articles for draws. The Happy Gang Seniors invite others in the community, who are over 60 years of age, to join them that day. The Londesborough Community Hall was filled with laughter, memories and best wishes on Saturday evening as the children of Tom and Marjorie Duizer feted their parents on the occasion of their 40th wedding anniversary. Both Tom and Marjorie were raised on farms in the Londesborough area and the family has been a part of the community all of those 40 years. It was a most enjoyable, casual and intimate evening. A surprise for Tom and Marjorie was the arrival of daughter, Lisa and husband, Shane to share in the celebration. Congratulations!
