the Blyth UCW meeting on Oct. 28
at 2 p.m.

Sharia law in Ontario. The
controversy over Ontario's
acceptance of Sharia rose to such
proportions this past summer that
Premier Dalton McGuinty asked
Attorney General Michael Bryant
and the minister responsible for
women's issues, Sandra Pupatello,
to review the arbitration process.
They apointed Marion. Boyd,
former attorney general, to
examine the process. Her report is
expected this fall.
Discussion followed on making
meat pies and embroidering quilt
blocks.
Sharon Bromley and Myrtle
Badley served lunch.
The next meeting is Nov. 25 with
a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. and
the meeting following at 8 p.m.
`Spirit' ends
season

here to fulfilling her dream of
becoming an actor. It's like watching
one of my kids take off."
Director Gil Garratt, he said, has an
extraordinary vision. "He took the
storytelling concept and turned this
into a real play."

opens for members Feb. 28.

Don't forget Remembrance Day
as we remember our soldiers who
fought so hard on our behalf. Many
of the veterans are not with us
anymore but we still remember the
sacrifice they made. Remember, and
buy a poppy.
Happy birthday to John Cronyn
who will celebrate his 65th birthday
on Nov. 13. He is also retiring from
the Morris-Turnberry landfill site.
There seemed to be many ghosts,
goblins, witches and everything
imaginable out on Halloween.
Although the weather wasn't too co-
operative, everyone had a good time
and lots of treats were received.
Greeting at. Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Oct. 24 were Barb
Richmond and Diana Campbell.
Guest musician was Margaret Kai.
An anniversary cantata was
celebrated by the choir and
congregation.
Everyone was invited downstairs
for lunch supplied by the Sunday
school.
Nov. 14 is a special church service
with the blessings of the animals and
pets.
On Wednesday, Oct. 27, 25
seniors enjoyed a potluck dinner
together at Blyth Memorial Hall.
Elva Brown, pianist, was in
charge of the sing-song.
Jean Plaetzer, president,
conducted the business meeting.
Sixteen members attended the fall
rally in Seaforth. Clifford Coultes,
from Blyth's club, was one who
provided entertainment at the
gathering.
Anyone wishing to attend the
Christmas dinner, catered by the
Legion Ladies Auxiliary, should
contact Jean Plaetzer by Nov. 15 to
reserve tickets.
Shirley Nicholson was in charge
of entertainment. She introduced her
granddaughter, Emily Nicholson,
who played several violin solos. She
was accompanied by her mother,
Janet Nicholson. Their music was
enjoyed by all.
Janis Vodden gave a reading
entitled The Dirt Road. Shirley
conducted a tricky quiz which had
everyone laughing.
The programme concluded with
an Irish blessing.
'The 50/50 draw was won by
Isabel Craig, Ed Watson and Shirley
Dale.
Bruce Howson of Blyth won the
first early bird bonus draw in the
sixth and final Blyth Bulldogs WIN!
WIN! Sweepstakes. The prize was
10-free sweepstakes tickets.
The second early bird bonus draw
will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the
Blyth and District Community
Centre. The prize is a Hall of Fame
