The Above and Beyond the Call of
Duty award for a graduating student
who made a significant contribution
to the school was given to Josh
Nichol. He was also a recipient of the
MacTavish Award for Merit for
furthering his education at a post-
secondary school and the Jeanne
Oldfield Memorial Arts scholarship
for having high academic- standing
being, a graduate of Brussels Public
School and proceeding to further
education in art, English or music.
Dane Cornell was a recipient of the
Wescast Industries Inc. for furthering
his education in foundry related
technology or business.
Meagan Campbell was a recipient
of the Michelle Kay Catherine
Andrew Memorial Trophy for being
the top female track and field athlete
and being accepted to college or
university.
The St. Willibrord Credit Union
award was presented to Meredith
Dow for proceeding to a post-
secondary education and
demonstrating strong involvement in
the community and for achieving
honours standings in her academics.
Paul Garniss was a recipient of the
manufacturing technology, the
Garniss Family award for being a
resident of Belgrave exhibiting good
school citizenship and positively
contributing to the community
through involvment in community
activities. He also received the Patton
Memorial award for excellent overall
achievement and resides in the
Bluevale and surrounding area.
Tyler Jutzi was given the Stephanie
Lea Henry Memorial Merit award for
being a Grade 12 student and a
graduate from Brussels Public School
who has positively contributed to the
academic, social and extracurricular
life at Madill..
The Huron County award was
;presented to Jenna Fischer for
furthering her education in the
agricultural field and residing in
Huron County.
Lacey McCall was a recipient of the
Madill Secondary School Teaching
Staff award for demonstrating high
scholastic standing and good school
citizenship.
The recipients of the George
Menzies Endowment Fund awards
were Ashley Keffer, Josh Nichol,
Christine Seili, Rachel Speers, Jessica
Spink, Jennifer Stangen and Kyler
Stephenson.
Amanda Bailie, Jessica Spink and
Kirk Stewart were among those
awarded the Mustangs on the Move
award.
Receiving their Big "M" for
earning three intermediate awards for
scholastics, athletics and activties or
by earning two awards, one with
double the points needed included
Dane Corneil, Meredith Dow, Alicia
Marshall and Jessica Spink.
Local Ontario Scholars included
Luke Beyersbergen, Dane Corned,
Meredith Dow, Jenna Fischer, Alicia
Marshall. Lacey McCall and Jessica
Spink.

It was a special day on Saturday as
family. friends and neighbours
gathered to help John and • Carol
Boneschansker celebrate 50 years of
marriage.
The former Carol Meijer was horn
in Winschoten. The Netherlands.
Her parents were Boelo and
Dieuwerke Meijer.
John Boneschansker was born in
Scheemda, The Netherlands to Jan
Willem and Antje. He and his family
immigrated to Holland Marsh in
1949. Carol followed in 1952 as a
single lady —en her own."
The couple was married at
Holland Marsh on Oct. 29, 1954 by
Rev. Lagerwey. Attendants were
Robert Boneschansker and Jackie
Koolhof.
After honeymooning in The
Netherlands, they returned to
Canada to farm near Kettleby,
Ontario. Together they raised six
children, Bill, Dorothy, Annette,
Cathy. Bruce and Robert.
Semi-retired, the Boneschanskers
now live just outside Brussels, on
the farm where for many years they
operated a garden centre.
They have been involved in
community as 4-H leaders and
directors of the fair board.
The golden celebration was held at
the couple's home.

Some time was enjoyed playing
cards that afternoon. Their next
meeting is set for Nov. 17.
