Get-well Wishes go out to a few Walton people. Helen Williamson has suffered a broken hip and had surgery last week. She is a patient in Seaforth hospital and will be there for awhile. Kelly McNichol suffered a broken wrist and Gary Sutcliffe is recovering from minor surgery on his arm. Mary McCall had eye surgery and is coming along really Country style dining A good turnout made the harvest supper at Ethel United Church a success last Sunday. Citizens gathered to indulge themselves with delicious turkey, dressing and potatoes, topping it off with homemade pie. Leona McDonald presented her with a gift on behalf of the congregation for attaining her Bachelor of Theology degree from St. Stephen's College. University of Alberta this past .week. The Sunday school is selling Rheo Thompson mint chocolate smoothies. T.he first confirmation class is Sunday, Nov. 7 at Bluevale United Church at 12:15 p.m. The UCW day out is oh Saturday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. at Duff's United Church. Cost for lunch is $13. Home for a visit were Dave Watson and his wife Susan. Susan was only here a few days, then returned to Edmonton. Dave stayed around and visited dad, Dave, and sisters Mary, Sandra and Anne. They celebrated Thanksgiving a week late at Gerald's with Mary and Carmen. Stephen, Mike and Christopher, Anne and Marrisa and Kristen and Sandra. Joining them were Brian, Donna, Jamie, Dave and Margaret Sanderson-. Dave and Susan told them about their three-week trip to Hungary and how beautiful Vienna was. Gerald had a full house and a great time with his company. The Walton Half hosted a roast beef dinner on Sunday. New faces helping .out the board were Ashley. Halley and Laura Black. Congratulations to newlyweds Jennifer Lubbers and Jeff Pennings. They were married at the Free Reform Church in Mitchell and had a reception at Mitchell Community Centre. Maid-of-honour was sister Katie Lubbers and brothers Nicholas and Daniel handed out the wedding bulletins. Parents are Jack and Nancy Lubbers of RR I , Walton. The happy couple is residing in Mitchell. Making a hush-hush trip to Edmonton was Brian Black. He really surprised his wife Joan who was already in Edmonton at St. Stephens College, University of Alberta, receiving her Bachelor of Theology degree at convocation ceremonies on Monday. other side. ORANGE TOAST AND SAUCE 6 egg yolks 1/2 cup milk 1/3 cup orange juice 1 tbsp: grated orange rind dash of salt and nutmeg 8 slices stale bread Beat well together first five- ingredients. Dip bread slices in egg mixture, coating both sides. Fry in oiled skillet until brown on both sides. Keep orange toast hat in a heated oven. Sauce: 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup orange juice 2 tsp. grated orange rind Combine in a small saucepan and simmer five minutes. Serve over toast. Both recipes compliments Louise's Florida Cookbook 1968. Joan was thoroughly surprised at his attendance. She also reports cold and snowy weather in the west and hopes it stays there. Welcome back and congratulations Joan. Returning from a moose hunting trip to the north were Matt Lee and Dan Taylor. A good time was had by all. On Sunday, it was a family affair when Norma Rose, Valerie and Krista Shortreed, Judy and Melissa Beuerman travelled to Toronto to see the musical Hairspray. They enjoyed a fine meal at Town and Country afterwards, then returned home. Celebrating at the Walton Inn for their birthdays were Brenda Bernard and Judy Beuerman. they were joined by friends Marlene Glanville, Karen Braecker and Carol Rennick. Celebrating last week as well were Margaret Stevens, Janis McCallurn, Brett Lee, Lois McCall, Nancy Holmes, Ruth McArter, Margaret Lacroix, Tanner Leslie, Teresa Baan, Dan Taylor, Erma Williamson, Doug Wey, Meagan Flaxbard, Shannon McGavin, John Steffler and Carol Humphries .
