North Huron council briefs
Euchre is back for the winter
months at the Blyth Legion. Come
out and enjoy the fellowship and fun
on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. The first
euchre results will be in next week's
paper.
Blyth United Church will celebrate
with an anniversary cantata on
Sunday, Oct. 31.
Harvey McDowell has moved to.
his new home in Huronview,
Clinton. We wish him well.
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Oct. 24 were Barb
Richmond and Diana Campbell.
Guest musician was Margaret Kai.
Ushering were Jodi Kerr, Diana
Campbell and Lavern Clark. A
special welcome was extended to all,
those visiting, including the guest
speaker Rev. Ken Bauman and his
wife Joanne.
The choir anthem was a medley of
Wonderful Songs of Grace.
Rev. Eugen Bannerman asked the
children to take home a shoe box
from the back of the church and fill it
with things children would like, then
bring it back to church in three
weeks (Nov.13) to be sent to
Samaritan's Purse.
For the children's story Rev.
Bauman brought along one of his
favourite things Tommy Tiger. Rev.
Bauman and Tiger told the story of
the Pharisee and the tax collector.
The Pharisee told everyone what a
good person he was, while the tax
collector prayed quietly and wasn't a
show-off.
The children were dismissed for
Sunday school.
Rev. Bannerman read the gospel
reading from Luke 18: 9-14 and 2
Timothy 4: 6-18.
011ie Craig led Psalm 105 Part I
with the choir singing the refrain.
Steve Sparling introduced Rev.
Bauman by telling a few stories
about his time as minister at Blyth
United from 1983 to 1987.
Rev. Bauman's message was
entitled Been there, Did that... Now
What?
During the 150 years of Blyth
United there had to be many
decisions made and many new
challenges met. The congregation
wants to continue to grow by telling
others about God and live the kind of
life God would have them live.
Everyone was invited downstairs
for lunch and to visit with Rev.
Bauman and Joanne.
At the Oct. 18 meeting of North
Huron council a presentation of a
