PAGE 29 North Huron Community Food Share kicks off On Friday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m., the North Huron Community FoodShare will kick-off the November Food Drive. The kick-off will take place at the Knights of Columbus Centre at the Community Complex in Wingham. Attending this event will be leaders in the community who will gather in support of the work of the FoodShare program and those who will be participating in the work of the November Loaves and Fishes Food Drive. Some of those attending will be representatives from churches, schools, municipal leaders, service organizations, firefighters, ambulance staff, air cadets, Girl Guide leaders, Scouts Canada, police, hospital staff, Health Unit, and many more. The NHCFS bi-annual LOAVES AND FISHES Campaign takes place in April and November each year, and food and funds collected go toward feeding the 400 families assisted at the The North Huron Community FoodShare. The North Huron Community FoodShare serves the following areas: Wingham, Lucknow, Teeswater, Brussels, Blyth, Fordwich, Gorrie, Wroxeter, Belgrave, and surrounding areas proximal to these towns/villages. How Can You Help During the LOAVES and FISHES Campaign? Host a food drive during the month of November and feel the joy of helping someone less fortunate than yourself. Fill NHCFS's blue tubs. Every day for the month of November, tell three people, about the NHCFS and ask them each to pass the message along to three more people. Learn to recognize the NHCFS blue tubs, and drop in a small item (can of soup, pack of macaroni), in during busy times, and make a statement to someone near you to indicate that yotrare so grateful to be able to help. People follow their leaders, and they will be more likely to give when they see someone else give. Buy an empty-plate. Throughout the month of November, you will see empty plates for purchase at local convenience stores, libraries and other areas where people gather. By purchasing an empty plate for a toonie, you will add your name to the supporters of the North Huron Community Food Share, and your empty plate with your name will be displayed in a visible place in your store. Buy a ticket on a beautiful king- sized quilt and you have a chance of winning as well as helping to feed the hungry with proceeds from these sales. Give a cash donation to NHCFS and receive an income tax receipt. Enclose your name and address with donations of over $10 so that receipts can be issued. If you want to give an Christmas gift to someone, give a cash donation to NHCFS in their name and send them a card telling them so.
