The girls did a wonderful job on
their speeches and retiring
Ambassador Mandy Mitchell
offered them many words of wisdom
in her final speech as Arnbas,sador.
It was a lovely evening with cake
and punch served to the attendees.
The singles dance saw a good
number out to enjoy the music of
Country Ways.
Comrade Dave Taylor remains in
Seaforth hospital and Comrade
Harry Smith is home from hospital.

The Cadets have started to meet
and all 12-18 year olds are welcome
to attend on Tuesday evenings and
check out what they are all about at
the Legion.

On Thursday, Oct. 14 the Mitchell
Golf and Country Club will be the
setting for the third annual Huron
Business Expo.
Helping Huron businesses build
alliances and 'partnerships with one
another has been a staple of this
event.in the past. On the heels of last
year's successful event in Goderich,
Expo 2004 in Mitchell will create an
enhanced opportunity for Huron
businesses to establish economic
relationships with their 'Perth
counterparts.
The Huron-Perth Business
Exposition 2004 will be an excellent
marketing opportunity for Huron
and Perth County businesses to
showca-se their products,and services
to each other and beyond.
The event starts at 10 a.m.
Admission is free and includes
access to the trade show as well as
two workshops and three concurrent
panel discussions.
At 10:30 a.m. Gabe Del Bianco
will present Building Morale — The
One Ingredient That Can't Be Left
To The End.
Shortly after lunch at 1:30 p.m.
Tine Buechler will provide tips on
Co-opetition — Networking With
Your Competition and Suppliers To
Improve Everyone's Business.
Finally at 3:30 p.m. three groups
will be formed to discuss issues of
great importance to the success of
Huron and Perth County businesses:
tourism, manufacturing and
effective marketing. Each discussion
will focus on one of these themes
and be charged with not just airing
issues, but identifying possible
solutions as well.

Joan Tuchlinsky joined with other
family members for a celebration of
their parents' 25th wedding
anniversary on Sunday. - They
enjoyed the , day together, and of
course. a meal.
A family ball game was great fun
and ended the day's celebration.

Community Centre to cook for the
Lucknow Presbyterian Church.
Friday, the crew went to Stratford
Presbyterian Church. Helping were
John Harrison, Rick McDonald,
George Adams, Glenn Bridge and
Andy Overholt._
The Legion's elimination draw
and fish fry is Sept. 25. Early bird
winners of the draw are Ruth Sauve-
Schade, Fran. Bremner and Jean
Storey who all won $50.
The Friday night supper of roast
groups by Huron and Perth business
owners is strongly encouraged, as
each discussion will provide an
opportunity to actively improve their
respective business environments.
The Expo will conclude in the
evening with a dinner and
recognition banquet to begin at 6:30
p.m. The agenda for the evening will
include a meal- provided by the
Members of the UCW met at the
home of Monique Baan last
Wednesday evening. Eighteen were
present.
The meeting was opened by
Monique. The meditation was by
Nicole Stevenson.
The special guest was introduced
by Shelley McGavin. Patty Banks
spoke on her book about coping
with the loss of her son Geoffrey
beef was enjoyed by many. This
week is chicken legs.
The Saturday afternoon euchre
saw 14 tables at play. The top 'prize
went to partners Eleanor Dane and
Mac Smith with 78 points. The
second prize went to Maxine Hinz
and Sally Scott with 70 points
tallied. There was a three.way tie for
third place and prizes were
distributed to Edythe Beacom and
Geraldine Dale, Stuart and Lois
Chamney and Rita and Delores
Howatt. all with 69 points.

Summer Company Program for
youth: and recognition of Huron and
Perth business excellence by the

Corporation and the Perth

Corporation for two exceptional,
and bereavement. Shelley also
thanked Patty for sharing her
thoughts on such a difficult part of
life.
Gloria Wilbee conducted the
business and Marjory Fraser read a
poem.
Trifle was supplied by Shelley.
Toonies for friendship were
gathered and the turkey supper was
discussed.
There was another tie- for the low
prize shared by Bob and Dorothy
Dalton and Vera Lindner and Vera
Ahrens with only 47 points. The
lucky lone hand winners were Kay
McCormick and Charlie Cameron.
The Ambassador of the Fair
competition was held at the Legion
on Saturday evening with a great
crowd of parents, sponsors and
supporters of the girls and the event
on hand.
Master of ceremonies was Graeme
Craig. There were four girls
local businesses.
The price to attend this dinner is
$25 per person.
