North Huron council briefs
The Farmers' Market is going to
carry on for a couple more Saturdays
beside the old town office building
from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m,

The monthly meeting of Blyth
Legion Branch 420 was held on Sept.
2.
After opening ceremonies president
Thelma Johnston initiated Shaun
Henry as a new member.
A donation of $100 was given to the
Church of God by motion on the floor.
The Branch would like to extend an
invitation to the public to come and
visit the Branch anytime during
business hours for food and social
times.
On Sept. 25 between the hours of 5
p.m. and 9 p.m. there will he
entertainment provided by Country
Motion with special activities and
food available.
On Sunday. Sept. 26 the Legion is
Fred and Deb Hakkers and boys on
the death of Fred's uncle.
Another successful Thresher
Reunion was held this past weekend
with beautiful sunny weather.
Thousands of people came out to see
the exhibits and there were more
campers than in other years. Our
little town of a thousand people
should be very proud to host such an
event.
Congratulations to Jean Nethery
who celebrated her birthday on Sept.
12.
Congratulations to Edgar Daer
who will celebrate his birthday on
Sept. 15.
On Sept. 16 Bill and Isabelle
Craig, Don and Marilyn Craig, all of
Blyth area and Blair and Shannon
Beiman of Belgrave will celebrate
their anniversaries.

Staff was able to turn the pumps
off so no fuel was lost.
While the officer was at the site
the vehicle returned with two men
hosting a community breakfast at

Huron council, clerk-administrator
John Stewart conducted the
swearing-in ceremony for newly-
elected Blyth councillor Edgar Daer.

Engineering, appeared before council
to review the engineer's report on the
Ellison-Whitfield municipal drain.

COuneil decided to leave the jet
fuel tank at the Wingham Municipal
Airport with a maximum level of
1,000 litres of jet fuel inside it as
recommended by the recreation and
facilities committee.

Council passed the second reading
of a provisional bylaw to provide
drainage works in the municipality
and to temporary borrow about
$31,600 on municipal credit.
The bylaw has been sent to the
Ministry of Agriculture and Food for
approval. If it does get approved,
council will read it for the third time
and make its final decision.

Council referred a letter from
Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority in respect to the 2005
roadside/windbreak planting service
to the public works committee.

Councillors endorsed the
on Sunday, Sept. 12 was Diana
Campbell. Ushers were Karen
Glousher and Lori Brooks. Guest
musician was Margaret Kai. Guest

Bodie Craig favoured the
congregation with a solo Ninety and

The children's hymn Fairest Lord
Jesus was sung. 011ie told the
children's story.
The gospel reading was from
Matthew 13: 1-9, 18: 5-6, 10-14.
Psalm 23 was led by 011ie.
011ie's message to the adults was
Crops and Flocks: She told the story
of the farmer who went out to plant
his crop. Some of the seed tell on
rocks and thistles. Only the seed that
fell on good land-flourished.
She spoke as well of the shepherd
who had 100 sheep. When one was
lost, he didn't rest until he had it
inside. The driver was found to be
showing physical symptoms of
impairment and was arrested for
impaired driving. He was taken for
breath tests that showed him to be
approximately two times the legal
limit. A 41-year-old from
Walkerton has been charged with
impaired driving, driving a motor
vehicle with over 80 mgs. and
failing to remain at the scene of an
accident.
