Better late than never I guess for
that glorious sunshine we enjoyed
all weekend. It was quite enjoyable,
but in true Canadian fashion, we
gripe and complain that it didn't
come in the summer when we
wanted to badly.
Oh well once again — enjoy the
moment.
The ladies' division of the fall fair
is requesting you dig up your pie
The quilt block course, using scraps,
will be in November in Brussels or
Fordwich running from 9 a.m. to 3
p.m. The cost is $5.
The next regular meeting- of the WI
will be held at the home of Jim and
Leona Armstrong. The next UFO day
will be at Edna McLellan's on Oct. 10-
at 10 a.m.
Leona Armstrong gave a very
interesting report on her trip to the
ACWW Triennial Conference in .
Tasmania.
Tasmania is an island about 150
miles south of Australia. Hogart,
where the conference was held, is the
capital of Tasmania.
Tourism is the largest industry, but
they do have many apricot farms, fish
farms and mushroom factories that
process seven different kinds.
There were over 600 delegates at the
conference from 30 different
countries. One speaker stressed that
good citizens are not born they are
trained. World peace and love was the
theme of one of the speakers.
Jean Fraser reported on the FWIO
baking skills. They would truly
appreciate a gift of your pies for
Tuesday evening sale and/or
Wednesday morning ready for the
fair..
For many folks the fair is not
officially over until you have had a
piece of pie or several. So dig up
your community spirit and bring a
pie or two to the BMG Complex
Tuesday or Wednesday knowing
the fair board thanks you
heartily.
'The children are smiling as they
settle into the routine of school.
Teachers have been assigned,
courses have been outlined and the
days are set. Now everyone can
just relax and enjoy the next stage
of learning.
Joan Golden, the student, is away
in Winnipeg now to get started on
her last year of diaconal studies
within the United Church of
Canada.
,Graduation and commissioning
are set for next year with a lot of
study and work to complete. Way
to go Joan.
The seasons have officially
changed. The kids have brought out
the hockey nets and the games of
road hockey have commenced,
Have a good week and support
the fair.
Bye now, Betty G:VV.
