On the topic of septic systems, the county will approach the Federation of Canadian Municipalities for fund- ing for a loan progran-i for septic tank improvements arid replace- ment. The county, behind warden Bill Dowson, has been a major pro- moter of a loan program, similar to farm tile drain loans, which would assist people to fix faulty septic sys- tems with a loan they can afford. The committee also received for information a request from the Bluewater Shoreline Residents' Association for financial assistance for DNA testing of waters along the shoreline to determine the source of E. coli pollution. The matter will be considered at the committee's September meeting. Meanwhile other groups are ask- ing to be included in the committee, said Scott Tousaw, director of plan- ning and development, but it's diffi- Cult to know how large the commit- tee should be. Groups are being urged to attend committee meetings which generally involve everyone in the room in discussions, he said. Though these representatives would not have a vote, the practice of the committee has been to work on con- sensus, Tousaw said. Call 1-866-734-9422 or visit www.medicalert.ca.
