We send out belated birthday
congratulations to Nora Stephenson
and Fran Bremner who have always
been great Walton supporters. They
enjoyed a birthday party at
Wingham Golf and Curling Club
with many of their Walton-Brussels
friends. There were 16 ladies
gathered including Leona
McDonald, Margery Huether,
Donna Knight, Mary Huether, Isobel
Wheeler, ,Yvonne Knight, Bev
Smith, Dona Knight, Marion Smith,
Mary Morrow, Betty Knight, Doris
Fischer, Betty McCutcheon, Helen
Bray and of course the birthday
girls. They returned to Doris
Fischer's for cake and ice-cream for
the afternoon.
Congratulations to Don and Melva
Fraser on celebrating their 50th
wedding anniversary. Their sons
Blair and Randy, and families
invited friends and relatives to join
them at Westfield Centre from 2 - 4
p.m. for a social time and a family
dinner followed. Congrats to Don
and Melva.
School has resumed and the buses
are back on the road. Please drive
carefully and remember the little
ones are excited, so slow down and
be alert. Flashing red lights mean
stop in both directions.
There are lots of big children
going off to college and universities
making parents both nervous and
relieved. Returning to school are

We say goodbye to Jason and
LeeAnn Konarski who have moved
to Seaforth from Walton. We spent
three days painting the new house
with myself, Judy Lee, Mary
Bernard, Brenda Konarski, Kelly
McDonald and LeeAnn while the
men folk moved things. The long
distance calls are already mounting,
but we wish them well in their new
home.
The ladies of Duff's United
Church hosted another Blyth
Festival supper on, Saturday
evening. There were 65 hungry
diners enjoy the roast beef dinner.
Thanks to all the extra help for the
unexpected increased numbers.
Celebrating birthdays this past
week include Barb Finlayson, Joelle
Glanville, Terry Thompson, Jamie
Emmrich, Bryan Finlayson, Jamie
Mitchell, David Grobbink, Julie
Glauser, Ken Axtmann, Andrew
Kruse, Cindy Poland, and Justin
Shortreed.

The Walton Master Brewers
attended the 18th Annual World
Senior Men's Fastball Tournament in
the North Bay on the weekend.
There was a combination of
players from Walton, Brussels and
Mitchell. Players included Brad
Knight, coach; Jack Knight,
manager; Steve Knight; Rick
McDonald; Steve Rathwell; Larry
Lowes; Doug Conley; Bryan Neill;
Jamie Pearr and Dave Fisher.
These prime nine men played
really well in the four games played.
They started off on Friday evening
playing against Peterborough. Doug
Conley pitched an excellent game
with six strike-outs in the rain-
shortened game of only three
innings. Hitting singles were Brad
Knight, Pearr, Neill and Conley.
Hitting a long double was Steve
Knight to score the three runs for the
3-0 win for the Master Brewers.
They faced a• strong Toronto
Bingos team on Saturday morning
with Larry Lowes on the mound for
the Master Brewers. In the three
innings played, only Steve Rathwell,
Brad and Steve Knight managed to
hit singles to score no runs in the loss
to the Bingos.
The afternoon game saw action
against Will's Bus Lines of Stoney
Creek. With a one-hour time limit on
games, after three complete innings,
the game ended in a 4-4 tie. Conley
was on -the mound for the Master
Brewers. Two walks, two hit batters
and Pearr hitting a single and a
homerun cashed the four Brewer
runs.
At the end of round-robin play, the
Master Brewers finished in the top
16 teams of the 32-team tournament.
Not. , bad for the prime nine
considering four were retired
players.
In the playoff round they faced the
Winchester Ravens of Oshawa,
ranked the number one team of the
tournament. Lowes pitched one of
his finest games in the 3-2 loss.

It was a well-played game and
and B. Knight with Conley hitting a congratulations to Walton Master
beauty triple to score the two runs. Brewers for an excellent weekend.
Conley was tagged out at home, the The Brewers' cheerleaders were
possible tying run, on a nice hit by Donna Knight, Nora Stephenson,
Fisher that was doubled from first to Doris Fischer, Marni, Debbie, Jo-
home to end the game. Ann and Colleen.
Nominations close on Friday, October 8th, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. and must be delivered by that
date to any office marked as nomination papers and to the attention of Jim Lynn, CEO.
Nominations from the floor at the Annual meeting are not allowed (HCCUL Bylaws).
The Annual meeting will be held on Wednesday November 24th, 2004, beginning at .7:00 p.m. at
the Elma Memorial Community Centre (Atwood) located approximately 10 km. south of
Listowel.
