U-13 Mosquitoes end great season
After some practice, hard work
and a lot of fun, the Blyth Lightning
U-13 Mosquitoes I wrapped-up a
great season.
The team only lost one game, tied
one and won six during its regular
scheduled games with the help of
coaches Peter Uyl and Hillie
VanAmersfoort.
Players include Danielle Bean,
Brandy Bearss, Brittany Bos, Aryn
Kikkert, Jessica Sparling, Hannah
Uyi, Jory Uyl. Laura Youngblut.
Daniel Bouman, Andre Est, Blaine
Hallahan, Tom Oudshoorn, Jesse
Pot, Gerrit Reinink, Mark Siertsema,
Tyson Sjaarda, Matt Stevenson and
Jacob Van Dorp.
Their first game was a success as
they won 3 - 1 against Goderich IV.
Sjaarda scored the first goal
assisted by Siertsema. Egli scored
the second, assisted by H. Uyl and
Pot scored the final goal. assisted by
Bean and J. Uyl.
Hallahan played net.
Both Blyth teams met on May 13,
but it was Blyth I who walked away
with the 5 - 3 victory.
Pot scored three goals with the
assistance of Van Dorp, Youngblut
and Bean. Hallahan scored the other
two goals, both assisted by Bean.
Stevenson and Hallahan were
keepers during that game.
Clinton gave Blyth I a run for its
money on May 20 as the game ended
in a 2 - 2 tie.
Sjaarda and Pot each scored with
help from J. U-yl and Siertsema.
Stevenson and Hallahan took turns
in net.

on t lay 24, proving their athletic
abilities.
The game ended in a 2 - 1 win
with J. Uyl scoring the first goal,
assisted by Sjaarda and Egli.
Sjaarda scored the second goal,
assisted by J. Uyl and Pot.
Stevenson played great in net.
On June 3, it was a close game
against Lucknow 1, but Blyth was
again victorious, winning 4 - 3.
J. Uyl scored two goals with help
from Egli, Sjaarda and Youngblut.
Sjaarda scored the next two goals,
one unassisted and the other assisted
by Hallahan.
Stevenson played another
awesome game in net.
Blyth met up with Lucknow 1
again on June 17 and walked away
with a 3 - 1 victory.
Sjaarda scored two, assisted by
Egli, Bos and Youngblut. Egli also
made an unassisted goal.
Hallahan played great in net.
On June 24, Blyth played
Lucknow II with Stevenson and
Hallahan having an awesome shut-
(Tat game in net.
Sjaarda scored two, by J.
Uyl and Pot. Pot later scored with
help from J. Uyl who on to score
another with assistance from Bean
and Pot.
On July 8, Blyth played their first
game against Wingham II, but lost 4
- 2.
Siertsema assisted Hallahan's goal
while Egli assisted J. Uyl's goal.
Stevenson played hard in net.
July 14 began the play-off
tournament in Lucknow. Blyth I's
first game was against Wingham St.
Willibord and they proudly walked
away winners after capturing a 6 - 3
victory.
J. Uyl scored scored a hattrick,
ending the first half of the game.
Assisting Uyl's goals were Sjaarda,
Pot and Stevenson. _
Wingham started off the second
half by scoring a goal, which Egli
made up for as he scored a goal off a
great pass from J. Uyl who received
a pass from Bos.
Wingham scored again, but not
without Hallahan scoring the next
goal with help from Egli.
J. Uyl could not be stopped,
scoring the sixth goal with assistance
from Egli and Hallahan. Then
Wingham scored once more, bat the
victory was already on Blyth's side.
Both Hallatian and Stevenson
played excellent in net.
The tournament continued on July
16 as Blyth beat Lucknow Knechtel
5 - 1.
No goals were scored by either
team in the first half, but Blyth came
alive early in the second as Sjaarda
scored assisted by Egli. Then
Lucknow scored, making it a tie
game.
Egli scored on a penalty kick.
Sjaarda scored again with help from
Bos and Youngblut.
Both Hallahan and Stevenson
played great in net.
With the two wins under their belt,
Blyth became the winners of their
pool and advancing to the next
round.
In that round, each team was
guaranteed two games and each
game had to be a win in order to
advance.
Despite a great effort, Blyth lost
against Goderich Tim Horton's, 2 -
l.
The lone goal was scored on a
penalty shot by Egli.
Van Dorp did his best in net.
Blyth went on to play Goderich K
of C in a back-to-back game.
A lot of hard work earned Blyth
their 4 - 1 victory.
Hallahan scored the first goal
unassisted. Pot scored next assisted
by Sjaarda, who then scored the next
goal assisted by Bos. Sjaarda also
scored the fourth goal with
assistance from J. Uyl.
Goderich scored their lone goal,
ending the game.
Blyth had to wait for the next two
teams to complete their game in
order to determine whether or not
Blyth had a chance to advance.
Because of Blyth had won one and
lost one, Goderich K of C had to win
against Goderich Tim Horton's, but
Blyth didn't get that chance.
