Red Cross collecting Coats for Kids locally
The Canadian Red Cross will be
collecting warm, cozy clothing
articles to help those in need bundle
up for the winter through its Coats
for Kids campaign.
During September, the
organization will, accept coats,
snowsuits, snowpants, hats, mitts,
boots and scarves of all sizes, from
infant to adult.
Local businesses have also offered
their services by hosting drop-off
sites where people can donate their
winter apparel.
Any item in good condition, with
working zippers, is appreciated.
To make a local donation, take
your articles to the drop-off sites at
Blyth General Store, Turning Heads
and Making Waves in Brussels,
Clinton Dry Cleaners, My Fair Lady
in Clinton, Seaforth Manor, Seaforth
Sewing Centre. Stedmans
Department Store and Sumthing
Special, both in Seaforth also offer a
drop-off.
Walmart has donated 200 back
packs full of supplies for Huron
County students from kindergarten
to Grade 8. The back packs, along
with coats and other winter clothing,
will be available to anyone who
needs them from Oct. 15 - 17.
Area back pack distribution sites
include St. John's Anglican Church
in Brussels, St. Paul's, Anglican
Church in Clinton, Exeter United
Church, Knox Presbyterian Church
in Goderich, Bethel Bible Church in
Seaforth and St. Paul's Trinity
Anglican Church in Wingham.
These distribution sites will be
open on Oct. 15 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.,
Oct. 16 from noon - 4 p.m. and Oct.
17 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Anyone interested in helping with
distribution and set-up from Oct. 14
- 17 are asked to contact Summer

Chief building official Paul
Josling reported building permits
were down 36 per cent over last year
but this seemed common to other
municipalities.
Josling informed council he was
booked for four courses to achieve
building certification by the end of
the year.
Building inspectors must be
certified by July 5, 2005. Council
agreed to start a process whereby
they could share building inspectors
with other municipalities.
