Brussels Livestock report
Fed steers, heifer sales 'barely' steady
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Aug.
27 were 2,136 head of cattle, 577
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers- and
heifers sold on a barely steady mar-
ket. Fancy and double-muscle steers
and heifers sold $75 to $85 with
sales to $85.75. Choice steers and
heifers sold $65 to $70 and second-
cut steers and heifers sold $60 to
$65. The cows traded at prices
steady to last week.
On Thursday the veal traded on an
active trade with prices steady to last
week. The lambs sold actively on a
lower market. On Friday the calves
traded on a steady market while the
yearlings sold at prices $3 to $5
higher.
There were 515 steers on offer.
Enoch Martin, Linwood, consigned
six limousin steers averaging 1,315
lbs. which sold to Holly Park Meat
Packers for $85.75. His overall
offering of eighteen steers averaged
1,344 lbs. selling for an average
price of $82.47. Five steers con-
signed by Jer-Dan Farms, Tavistock,
averaged 1,349 lbs. selling for an
average price of $76.52 with their
top gold steer weighing 1,345 lbs.

Country Club Thursday, Sept. 23 at
8 p.m.
Fast will provide an eye-opening
look at the emotional issues behind
family farm businesses and focus on
habits of highly successful farm
families. You'll learn concrete steps
to take back to your family to
improve communication and build
harmony. As the founder of the
Centre for Family Business, Fast has
helped Canadian farm families
achieve excellence.

for HPWSA members. Spouses,
families, neighbours and community
members are welcome to attend.

Fast is the first of many speakers
on HPWSA's agenda. Meetings are
the fourth Thursday of the month at

HPWSA is a non-profit organiza-
tion formed in 2003' to promote
communication and to foster learn-
ing, sharing and personal growth of
farm women and their families by
offering an educational and social
program with knowledgeable,
inspiring speakers. In 2003-2004,
the group had 80 members with
about 50 women attending each
meeting.
A year's membership is $25 and
includes admission to the group's
seven monthly meetings and a
newsletter.
