JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN - GRADE 12
Parents of Catholic school age children who are new to Perth and
Huron Counties may register their children during the week of August
30 to September 3. 2004 or on the second day of school. Wednesday,
September 8. 2004 by contacting their local school. Children registering
for the JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN program must be 4 years of age on
or before December 31, 2004. Children registering for the first time in
the KINDERGARTEN program must be 5 years of age on or before
December 31, 2004. Please bring Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate
and Immunization Record Card of the child you intend to register.
FRENCH IMMERSION classes are being offered at Jeanne Sauve
School, Stratford, and St. Mary's School, Goderich.
ST. MICHAEL CATHOLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL is a Catholic
Secondary School serving Stratford and Perth County.

Obituaries
ELIZABETH LUTZ
Elizabeth (Betty) Lutz, formerly
of Auburn passed away peacefully at
Huronview Home on Friday, Aug.
20, 2004. She was in her 78th year.
She was the beloved daughter of
the late William Lutz and the late
Marjorie (Newman) Lutz. Betty will
be sadly missed by her sisters Mary
Elliott of Thedford, Joy and' Elgin
Penfound of Londesborough,
Shirley McNee of Bluevale, Rose
and Charles Allison of Goderich and
Gloria and Adolf Aszmies of
Cambridge and by brothers William
(Bill) and Hermina Lutz of Goderich
and Edward (Ted) and Jennifer Lutz
of Belgrave. She will also be
mourned by many nieces, nephews,
grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her
sister Violet, two brothers-in-law
Worthy McNee and Charles Elliott,
one nephew Edward Elliott and one
niece Marjorie Elliott.
A private family funeral was held
at the Blyth Visitation Centre of the
Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., 407
Queen St., on Monday, Aug. 23.
Pallbearers were Adam Lutz, Bill
Elliott, Robert Aszmies, Danny
Mc Nee, Doug McNee and Scott
Allison.
Interment was at Ball's Cemetery,
Greeting at Melville Presbyterian
Church on Sunday morning were
Isabel Armstrong and her family.
The service was led by Rev.
Cathrine Campbell, with Crystal
McLellan as organist.
The Call to Worship was followed
by the singing of the hymn, Now
Thank We All our God. Psalm 71
was read responsively with the
congregation.
Following the children's hymn,
Forth in Thy Name, 0 God I Go,
Rev. Campbell addressed the
youngsters at the front. She showed
them a medal similar to those the
Olympians are receiving in Athens
this week, and they discussed the
events.
She told them of a champion
runner in 1921 who would not enter
a race held on the Sabbath thus
missing the chance of winning an
extra medal because he would not
abandon his principles. Rev.
Campbell told the children of a
similar case this week which showed
principle and sportsmanship by an
athlete and told them, "Do your best
and all are winners".

GERTRUDE MARY LAMONT
Gertrude Mary (Dodds) (nee
Alcock) passed away after a lengthy
illness of cancer on Saturday, Aug.
21, 2004 in her 81st year.
She leaves to mourn her daughter
Susan and (Paul) Heron and loving
grandchildren, Katryn and Dawson
Heron all of Port Dover.
She was predeceased by her
husband Graham Lamont and her
parents George and Helena Alcock
and her brother Lloyd and Laura of
the Brussels area.
She was a member of Grace
United Church and the Royal
Canadian Legion, Branch 158 in
Port Dover, where she spent many
happy hours playing cards. She
mad many good friends throughout
her life.
In keeping with Gertrude's wishes
cremation has taken place. A time to
meet with the family to celebrate
Gertrude's life will be held on
Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004 at the Royal
Canadian Legion, Branch 158, 212
Market St. E., Port Dover, 1 - 3 p.m.
Interment will take place at a later
The scripture lesson of Jeremiah
1: 1 - 10; Hebrews 12: 22 - 29 and
Luke 13: 10 - 17 was then given,
with William King assisting Rev.
Campbell. The hymn, Unto the Hills
was sung.
The sermon, Right on Schedule?,
referred back to. the scripture
readings and the schedules.
Jeremiah's timetable was not ready
for his commissioning when God
decided that he was needed to be a
prophet. When Jesus helped the
crippled woman in the synagogue,
he was scolded by the priests
because this healing was done on the
Sabbath day.
"To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under
heaven," said Rev. Campbell as she
went on to complete the familiar
Ecclesiastes reading from the Bible.
"A time to heal, a time to break
down and to build up".
She continued "It's important for
us to see the need and respond to it
as Jesus did when he healed this
woman. But it would also be good
for us all if we could arrange our
schedules so that we would have a
date in the. Brussels Cemetery.

MARGARET ELIZABETH
FEAR
Mrs. Margaret Fear of Braemar,
Wingham, formerly of Belgrave
passed away at Wingham and
District Hospital on Sunday, Aug.
22, 2004. She was 86.
The former Margaret Nichol was
the beloved wife of the late Samuel
J. Fear who predeceased her in 1985.
She was the dear mother of Russel
Fear and Verna Edgar of Seaforth,
Phyllis Biggin and Denis Jewitt,
Marilyn and Allan Bridge, Wayne
and Barb Fear and Larry and Linda
Fear, all of Morris and Bruce and
Joyce Fear of London. She was the
sister of Alfred Nichol of Belgrave.
Mrs. Fear is also survived by 21
grandchildren and 34 great-
grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her
parents James and Sarah (Mills)
Nichol, sisters Mary Bird, Alice
Brooks, Letta Smith and Florence
Newbigging, and by her brother
Herb Hawkins.
A private funeral service was held
Sabbath each week, a day of rest and
reflection and time spent talking to
God".
Collection was taken up by Bill
King, Dave McCutcheon and Jeff
Cardiff., The final hymn, God of
Grace and God of Glory completed
the service.
Following this, Rev. Campbell
brought Leona Armstrong to the
front of the church to present this
year's Citizen Award, sponsored by
The Citizen to recipients Jeff and
Cathy Cardiff. They were
commended by Mrs. Armstrong for
their quiet and positive manner of
tackling any community challenge
with cheerfulness and willingness.
at the McBurney Funeral Home on
Wednesday. Mrs. Elly VanBergen
officiated.
Interment was in Blyth Union
Cemetery.
Memorial donations to Wingham
and District Hospital Foundation
would be appreciated as expressions

MILDRED GERTRUDE
WHEELER
Mildred Gertrude (Jacklin)
Wheeler of Brussels, passed away at
Huronlea Home for the Aged on
Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004. Born in
Grey Twp. on March 31, 1920,
Mildred was in her 85th year.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Jack Wheeler. She was the dear
mother of Audrey Johnston and
husband Murray of Morris and
David Wheeler and wife Rosemary
of Grey. She was the loving
grandmother of Valerie Watson and
husband Mike of Morris, Deborah
Braun and husband Mitch of
Whitechurch, Bruce Johnston and
wife Dawn of Brussels, Ian Johnston
and wife Laura of Morris, Steven
Wheeler and wife K.J. of New
Westminster, B.C. and Gregory
Wheeler and wife Gail of Morris.
Mildred was also loved by her 18
great-grandchildren and her brother
Lawrence Jacklin.
She was predeceased by a brother
Melville Jacklin and sister Violet
Mad-dn.
At Mildred's request there was no
funeral home visitation. A private
family funeral service was
conducted at the Schimanski Family
Funeral Home, Brussels, on
Thursday, Aug. 19 with Rev,
Cathrine Campbell officiating.
Scriptures from Isaiah 40: 1, 28-
31, John 8: 12-14 and Proverbs 31:
10-31 were read by Rev. Campbell.
Great-grandchildren Nicole and
Alexa read from the book, The Next
Place and a poem was read by great-
granddaughter Lindsay.
Remembrances of their grandmother
were given by Valerie Watson and
Debbie Braun.
The committal service was
performed at the funeral home with
the burial at Brussels Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
Town and Country Support Services.
CLAYTON LEWIS GROSS
Clayton Gross, formerly of the
Auburn area, passed away
peacefully in St. Catharines on
Monday, Aug. 16, 2004 in his 75th
year.
He was the son of the late William
and Ida (Regele) Gross. He was the
beloved husband of 31 years of
Alexandra (Tychonky) Gross, and
dear brother and brother-in-law of
Harold and Bernice Gross, Carmen
and Christena Gross, Elva and John
Brown, Marguerite Gross and
Gordon and Bernice Gross. He will
be lovingly remembered by many
nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Walter in 1936, and
Ronald in 1995 predeceased him.
At Clayton's request there was no
funeral service. Cremation has taken
place.
Private interment of ashes was in
Pleasant View Memorial Gardens,
Font Hill.
Donations may be made to the
Alzheimer Society.
