The groom is the son of Bonnie and Mark Gropp of Brussels, and Bob Reid of Perth. The bride is the daughter of Linda and Jim McLellan of Lucan. Officiating at the ceremony was Pastor Elwin Garland, a friend of the groom. The honorary maid of honour was Darian Moore, daughter of the bride. Matron of honour was the bride's sister Bev Brennan of Huron Park. Bridesmaids were Tracy Grubb of Teeswater, a cousin of the bride, and Tanya Barfett of Lucan and Michelle Clavet of London, friends of the bride. Serving as best man for his brother was Joshua Gropp of Brussels. Groomsmen were the groom's friends Ed Roach of Kitchener, Jeff Marks of Cambridge and Bruce Glebe of Kitchener, the bride's brother Jamie McLellan of Lucan and her sons D.J. and Rodney Moore. The ringbearers were Mitchell McKay of Lucknow, the groom's nephew and Reilly Brennan, a nephew of the bride. Her niece Madison Brennan was flowergirl. Special readings were given by Marjorie Moore of Barrie, the groom's aunt and godmother and Jolene Seip of Tavistock, a friend of the bride. A reception at the Waterloo Recreation Complex followed the ceremony. Emcee was friend Kimberly Blessing of Philadelphia. After a lakeside honeymoon in Southhamptom, Mr. and Mrs. Gropp have begun their married life Lin Kitchener. Community extends sympathy Sympathy is extended to the family of Isabelle Gray, who passed away Aug. 15, leaving many area relatives. On Aug. 14 Andrew McTaggart passed away suddenly as the result of an accident. He was the son of Doug McTaggart and Doris Luna and her husband Dave. He lived in the Cranbrook area during his early years and the community extends sympathy to his family. On Sunday Mary Mctaggart, Geraldine Siemon and Leslie and Yvonne Knight entertained Lycille Wood with dinner at the Candlelight Restaurant in Goderich to celebrate her 75th birthday which was Aug. 11. Share-the-wealth went to Verna Crawford and Rose Stephenson. High scores were Myrna Burnett, Richard Elliott and Jim McGillawee. Lone hand winners were Florence Broughton, Shirley Verstoep, Linda Stevens, Gail Smith, Mac Smith, Tom Stevens and Margaret Peebles. Low scorers were Marlene Johnston and Ross Stephenson. A few neighbours had an enjoyable evening at the home of Frank and Kathy Workman visiting with Peter who was here on holidays. He is working as a health inspector serving four communities on Baffin Island. Craig, Lisa and Duncan Workman visited Frank, Kathy and Peter on Sunday. Marg and John Saxon have returned from a holiday on Cape Breton where they visited Marg's cousins. John enjoyed the twists and turns of Cape Breton National Park. A belated welcome to Mr. and Mrs. T. Kropf and family who now live in Cranbrook (in the former Cranbrook store property). A number of Cranbrook and area residents attended the 70th birthday party for Bill Hoy held at Club 86 on Saturday night. It was like an old home night with friends now living in many different areas, attending. These were people who grew up in Country Fare Hoping you will enjoy and use some of the recipes 1 will be giving each month. They have all been tested by me in my home, and will come from many sources. They are easy family food that teenagers and parents will enjoy. PUMPKIN SCONES 4 tbsp. margarine, softened 6 tbsp. sugar, zest of 1/2 orange 1 1/2 cup cooked pumpkin, mashed 2 eggs well beaten 3 cups flour 1 1/2 tbsp. baking powder 1 tsp. sweet spice 1 1/2 cups milk, more or less Cream together margarine, sugar, zest; stir in pumpkin and eggs. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into pumpkin mixture, add milk gradually if mixture seems too dry. Turn out onto a lightly floured board and pat out to 1-1 1/2" thickness. Cut out with a cutter dipped in flour and place close together on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or the Cranbrook, Ethel, and Brussels areas. CORN FOR THE FREEZER 18-20 cobs of corn, remove kernels 1 quart hot water 2/3 cups sugar 1/2 cup margarine 2 tsp. salt Combine all ingredients in a large kettle. Simmer 5-7 minutes stirring occasionally. Pour all into a large shallow pan to cool. Spoon into freezer bags, freeze. CORN PUDDING I - 8 oz. cream cheese, softened 2 eggs, beaten well 1/2 cup sugar I pkg. corn bread muffin mix I can cream style corn, 16-18 oz. 2 1/2 cups fresh or frozen corn 1.cup milk 2 tbsp. margarine, melted 1/2 tsp nutmeg In a mixing bowl, blend cheese, eggs, sugar. Mix in remaining ingredients and combine well. Pour all in to a greased 9x13x2 inch baking pan. Bake at 350°F for 40 - 50 minutes.
