group sees
special
performance

We have belated congratulations to-
send to Anita Kreutzwiser of the
Walton area. She was awarded the
Terry Fox Humanitarian Award.
She was chosen as one of 20
Canadian recipients out of 588
applicants from across Canada. The
award involves a $7.000 scholarship
for each year for four years.
She will be attending Wilfrid
Laurier University's Brantford
campus this fall, taking a concurrent
education program that will allow
her to graduate with a teaching
degree along with a Bachelor of Arts.
Anita spent several months filling
out the nine-page application and
collecting a minimum of three
references. She also attended an

She has a long list of achievements
including being Seaforth
Agricultural Society's Fall Fair
Ambassador, 250 volunteer hours at
Seaforth Community hospital,
organizer of three food drives at St.
Anne's Secondary School, selling
daffodils for the Canadian Cancer
Society, co-president of OSAID in
Grade 11 as well as helping with
Mass celebrations at school.
Congratulations to this very
deserving young lady.
Pat and Don Dalton have returned,
home from a vacation in the west.
They flew to Calgary and toured the
sites in the surrounding area
including Banff and Lake Louise.
Marjory Fraser spent a few days in
Kitchener with daughter Dianne and
husband Phil Blake. While there,
they celebrated Dianne's birthday
and attended the RCMP musical
ride. Congrats Dianne.
It was Bob Humphries turn to
celebrate his birthday with family.
Joining Bob in Bayfield were wife
Nora, mother Mary, sister Kim with
George and Andrew, 'sister Wcnda
and Bob. They had dinner together,
then went to Kim's hcime to visit.
Congrats to Bob.
Congratulations to Ashley
Sholdice, daughter of Don and Jill
Sholdice who was the lucky winner
of a stereo system. The names of all
the flaggers who worked at the June
motocross race at the Lee farm were
put into a draw. Ashley was the
winner. Congratulations to her.
The buck and doe the BMG was
for Chad McCallum and Crystal
Semple. A good crowd enjoyed the
evening., The wedding is in August.
Rick and I, along with many
relatives, friends and neighbours
from the Walton Seaforth area, as
well as guests from across Ontario,
other provinces and the United
States were privileged to attend the
celebration of the forthcoming
marriage of Marcy McCall and John
MacBain at the home farm of
Murray and Sherry McCall.
The evening began With appetizers
being served in the foyer area of the
linen-draped tent. The delicious
dinner was enjoyed in the beautifully
decorated main tent done in burlap-
covered tables adorned with fresh
fruit, flowers, plants and lighted
birch trees.
Following the dinner John and
Marcy thanked everyone and
welcomed them to the night's
entertainment. The local
entertainment began with a clogging
number by the Cavan Cloggers and
mother of the bride Sherry joining in.
Laura Elligsen sang I Hope You
Dance to which John and Marcy
danced.
The crowd was then treated to the
violin playing of Jack Storey and
Murray McCall. A stepdancing treat
by many students of Lila Storey and
Sherry over the years as well as the
Storey sisters and Shawna, Marcy
and Carali McCall delighted
everyone there. A special song
written for John and Marcy by Uncle
Jack Storey , was performed by Jack
and his wife Nancy called For The
Rest of My Life. The back-up band
The Ashgrove also wrote a song and
dedicated it to the happy couple
called Take a Deep Breath.
The evening continued on with the
surprise entertainment of Pat Benatar
and her band for a concert
performance.
At the conclusion of the concert,
the guests and surrounding
countryside, were treated to a
magnificent display of fireworks.
Dancing rounded out the rest of
the evening and -concluded the
wonderful celebration of Marcy and
John's forthcoming wedding which
will be Saturday, July 17 in
Provence, France.
Our congratulations to the happy
couple and Murray and Sherry for
hosting such a fantastic and
unbelievably incredible evening.
Home from the west are Alec and
Gail Glanville for a- family visit.
They attended the McCall-MacBain
celebration as well as the Glanville
reunion the next day. They will be
off to France to attend the wedding
of Marcy and John.
ti Our belated congratulations to
newlyweds Anthony Bachert and
Melody Fouts who were married on
July 1 at the Governor Warner's
Mansion in Farmington Hills,
Detroit, Michigan. Anthony is the
son of Dale and Starr Bachert of
RR2, Blyth.
The Walton United Church was the
host for a Blyth Theatre luncheon
last week for 61 hungry theatregoers.
They enjoyed a delicious dinner at
12 noon, then were off to Blyth by I
p.m. to enjoy the comedy Heat
Wave.
Marie McGavin encourages any
young women in the area to get
involved in the Queen and Princess
of the Furrow competition. The
queen competition is open to young
women aged 16-24 and the new
princess competition is for girls 12-
15. If interested and wanting more
information call Marie at 887-9996.
We send out get-well wishes and
speedy recovery wishes to Hayden
Flood, who broke his arm, Tyson
McGavin for a broken arm, Judy
Lee, still sporting a cast on her foot
and Mary Bernard with both a badly-
bruised foot and wrist from a
fall.
Celebrating birthdays last week
were Gerald Watson, Devon
McCutcheon, Mitchell Ryan, Julie
McDonald, Neil Mitchell, Janie
McEwing, Brenda Finlayson, Reece
Hamilton, Alicia Dalton, Ed
McClure, Monica Ryan, Doreen
Hackwell, Darlene Stevens and
Karissa McMeekin.
The Walton Brewers had their
-- winning streak broken by the
Brussels Tigers suffering a 9-3. loss
last Tuesday night. Scott McDonald
and Steve Leonhardt shared the
pitching duties and the loss. Brewer
bats were cold and couldn't keep the
hits coming off the pitching of the
Tigers' pitcher.
The Brewers next home game is
July 27 at 8:30 p.m. against the
Exeter Braves.
The Walton Ontario Early Years
group at Duff's United Church
enjoyed a special performance of
Five Monkeys and the Crocodile by
Megan Campbell during circle time.
They also practised counting
popcorn with the parachute.
Caden Lee enjoyed playdough
time with Dad, and Owen Taylor
tried to join in sampling the
playdough by mouth. Emma Taylor
enjoyed a tea party with the dolls and
Mat Campbell loved using his voice
with the parachute games.
Hayden Flood toughed out the
morning being a great sport
considering he just broke his arm the
night before. Jacob Flood enjoyed
playing with Owen as he got to be
the "big" boy.
