Brussels Midget Girls lose 4
McCall loaded the bases.
Josling hit a single to score two
runners and Rachel Speers double-
scored two more. Batting in the third
Fischer would get on with a single

Josling would again take the
mound for Brussels in the fourth. No
runs were allowed on two strikeouts
and two walks. The final score was
Fullarton 16, Brussels 6.
The Brussels Midgets played
home to Shakespeare on July 5.
Candice Ross started on the mound
in the first allowing five runs, five
hits and three walks. In the bottom of
the first Brussels batters would sit on
three strikeouts.
Ross was bad on the mound but
was relieved by Catrina Josling after
walking six batters. Josling finished
the inning with one strikeout and
two walks.
Shakespeare would add another
seven runs to their score.
Batting in the bottom of the
second was Sarah McDonald. She
would wait out a walk and would
advance on a single by Josling.
Candice McLellan also would get on
to load the bases. A hit by Katie
Aitcheson scored three for Brussels.
Josling returned to the mound to
start the third. Three runs would
cross the plate on one strikeout, three
walks and one single.
Shannon Stennick for Brussels
would start the inning with a walk.
Lacey McCall would advance
Stennick with a lofig " single.
McDonald loaded the bases. Josling
hit- a single to score two runners.
McLellan would fill the bases again,

The Blyth Tyke A baseball team
has been very busy over the last
month with only one rained-out
game. They have managed to win
two out of the four games they
played.
The end of the season is coming
soon. and Blyth A is looking good
for their tournament on Aug. 14,
hosted by Blyth Tyke A and B
teams.
June 9, Blyth A played Blyth B.
For the A squad Chad Wheeler and
Ryan Plunkett both managed to get
triples. but in the end their team lost
23-10.
June 16, Blyth went to Winthrop.
Joshawa Kuperus, Wheeler and
Plunkett all got RBIs. The game
On July 7 the Brussels U-6 Its
played against the U-6 Ills at the
local soccer field.
Scoring for Brussels II were
Connor denDekker, Rachel Hastins
and Austin Johnston.
Taking a turn between the posts
were Hastings, Heather Hastings,
Johnston, Nolan Johnston and
denDekker.
The Brussels III had a tiring night
with only seven players out. Scoring
were Kailey Wheeler with one goal
and Jenessa Neil with three.

June 30, Goderich came to Blyth.
This was an exciting game that
started very close. Then Blyth pulled
ahead in the second inning gaining
seven runs with Wheeler and
Brendan Hallahan both getting
homeruns to help the squad win the
game 20-16.
July 8, Stanley visited Blyth.
Stanley was short players so they
borrowed Gabrielle Ducharme and
Hallahan from the Blyth team.
Kuperus caught an awesome pop fly,
Keyona Johnson got two homeruns,
as did Bryce Glousher. Blyth won
23-6.
The next game is on Wednesday,
July 14 in Seaforth.
Brussels II.

That same night Brussels I took on
Brussels IV.
In what was a very close contest,
according to coach Mike Dauphin,
Brussels IV squeaked out a 6-5
victory.
Scoring were Carlie Ducharme
and Tiffany Deitner, each with two,
Dylan McNeil and Logan
Kellington.
Taking turns guarding the Brussels
IV net were Ducharme, McNeil and
Leanne Exel.
Brook and Rachel's team won 6-0
against Stoney Creek and 7-0 against
Thorold and lost to Cobourg 6-4.
They ended up beating Port
Colbourne 5-4 on Sunday to bring
home the bronze medal.
Brianne's team won three games
beating Ancaster 4-3, Windsor 13-4
and Clarkson 16-6 and ended up
losing in the semi-finals on Sunday.
There were 20 teams in the Novice
division.
The Brussels Midgets then
travelled to Fullarton. Candice Ross
and Josling would share the pitching
duties. Ross in the first had seven
runs cross on one strikeout, three
singles, one double, one homerun
and five walks. Josling, pitching in
the second had seven more runs
cross on one single, seven walks and
two hit pitches. Ross was back on
the mound in the third only allowing
two runs on two strikeouts, two
singles and four walks.
Brussels batting in the first had
Candice McLellan walk, then
Fischer was hit by a pitch. A walk to

The Blyth Thunder played its
second last game of the regular U-11
soccer season at the Sparling field,
on July 6 against Lucknow III.
Jolande Oudshoorn was - game
captain.
Lucknow came on strong and
scored the first two goals of the
game. Halfback Jacob Nonkes got
the ball away from Lucknow and
took a long swift shot on the net for
Blyth's first goal. Before long Micah
Nonkes passed the ball to Bre.it
Drost for the second goal. Tanner
Merner made an assist to Drost for
another Blyth goal. Courtney Bos
scored Blyth's last goal of the first
half after an assist from Drost and
halfback Brendon Boven, making it
4-2 for Blyth.
Drost scored the first goal after
halftime with an assist from Bos.
Lucknow kept the pressure on and
scored two more goals on
goalkeeper Greg Roetcisoender. Bos
took a penalty shot and scored the
Thunder's final goal.
The final score was a 6-4 victory
for Blyth Thunder.
Bantams win
The Londesborough Bantams
travelled to Cromarty to take home a
20-10 win over Hibbert.
Londesborough played great at the
July 5 game, scoring six runs in the
second inning, three in the third
inning, four in the fourth inning and
seven in the fifth inning. Lee
Watkins pitched all five innings,
striking out nine Hibbert players. An
awesome homerun by Josh Nurse in
the second inning, helped to give
Londesborough the lead.

the final inning. Shakespeare would
score three runs on five walks.
Brussels batters in the final inning
left Ross stranded at second.
The final score was 17-5 for
Shakespeare.
Brussels played St. Pauls on July
11. Josling started on the mound
allowing three runs on one strikeout,
two hit pitches and three walks.
Brussels bats answered with three
runs. Aitcheson led off and advanced
on hits by Jenna Fischer, McCall and
McDonald. A long fly ball by Josling
would clear the bases.
Josling and Ross shared pitching
duties in the second resulting in five
runs crossing on four walks and
three hits.
Ross, Stennick and Ashley Keffer
would all sit on strike outs in the
Brussels half.
McDonald came in to pitch. A
single run would score on one
strikeout, three walks and two hits.
In the Brussels turn at plate Melissa
Souch. Melissa souch waited a walk
and advanced on singles by
Aitchison, Fischer, McCall and
Josling. Four runs came in to close
the gap on St. Pauls.
However, back in the field for the
final inning Brussels would struggle
to get their three outs. Four runs
scored on three walks and two hits.
Brussels was determined not to
give up. McLellan led off the final
inning with a triple. Bases were
loaded on walks to Ross, Keffer and
Mary Aitcheson. Again hopes were
crushed when a long fly hit by K.
Aitchison was fielded to end the
game.
The final score was 13-8 for St.
Pauls.
Brussels U-6 teams play
Locals in tourney
The Brussels Midget Girls
travelled to Milverton for recent
baseball action. • •
The Milverton squad overpowered
Brussels yet the team never gave up.
Sarah McDonald was on the mound
in the first allowing seven runs on
two strikeouts, four singles and four
walks.
In the second, six runs crossed the
plate on two strikeouts, four singles
and five walks. In the third another
seven runs came in on one strikeout,
three singles, one triple and two
walks.
Catrina Josling took over duties on
the mound allowing only one run on
one strikeout, one single and three
walks.
A double play by Katie Aitcheson
and Jenna Fischer would sit the
Milverton squad.
The only run scored by the
Brussels squad came in the fourth.

would score on singles by
McDonald and Lacey McCall for a
final score of Milverton 21, Brussels
