They had an open house tea at the Dashwood Community Centre. then held a small dinner for family and close friends. Family members attending included Marilyn McDonald, Jim and Linda McDonald as well as Cathy and family, Pat and family, Jeanne and family and Bruce Mcdonald. Relatives Leona McDonald and Mary Huether also attended the dinner. Congratulations to the happy couple. The birthday girl was Yvonne Knight last week and the birthday group gathered at Fireside Cafe. They had a great time celebrating. Jane Zwep was the hostess for a shower for bride-to-be Sandra Collins. She had the women of the 16th line attend an afternoon together. Sandra and Jeff Lewington will be married at the end of June. Congratulations to Margaret Lacroix who was married on Friday at Brodhagen Lutheran Church. A small reception was held at her home on Saturday her family, friends and Guest speaker at Duffs service Duff's United Church welcomed Barb Hicks as guest speaker this past Sunday. The fundraising committee is having a great response to their birthday and anniversary calendar promotion. They travelled to Portage L Prairier, Manitoba for the wedding of Mark Bachert and Brenda Smith on Saturday, May 22. All members of the Bachert family attended with Keith and Janet, parents of the groom ,driving to the west and staying on for a short visit. Brent and Shirlee Groothius also drove from Chicago. Walton's Joan Perrie participated in the Senior games walk held in Goderich at the Menesetung Trail on the weekend. It was a three km. predicted walk where you have to predict how long it will take you. Joan estimated her time to walk would be 30 minutes and she took 30 minutes and 17 seconds giving her a fourth-place finish. The first-place finisher was a 79-year-old woman who missed her predicted time by only three seconds. Congratulations to Joan and all who participate in the games and keep active. Congratulations to Brian Black and Joan Tuchlinsky on the marriage of their daughter Jennifer Black to Chad Spaulding in Kitchener on Saturday. Celebrating birthdays this past week were Scott Dalton, Jillian Houston, Tom Love, Jacob McGavin, Jim Campbell, Ernie Lewington, Robbie McClure, Patricia McClure, Chris Humphries, David Mcllwain, Shawna McCall. and Roger Humphries. Walton Hall was the meeting place for the Women's Institute members and the Hall board committee. They were meeting to discuss what upgrades and improvements for the Hall as well as the possibility of and early at 8 a.m., but the real excitement will start at 11 a.m. when the riders line up at the starting gate, just waiting to get the lead and hopefully carry that lead until the end of the race. Each moto will be approximately 20 minutes in length. There are three motos for each class racing. Riders will be from age four, all the way up to 58, and almost every age in between. His business Absolute Technique teaches the correct aspects of riding motocross as well as physical conditioning, diet, etc. He had over 30 students participate and taught every day he was Nursery rhymes get creative The Walton Little School Butterfly class has spent the month of May being creative with nursery rhymes. The Butterflies have made mice to run up clocks, stars to twinkle in their room, spiders to scare Miss Muffet and even helped put Humpty together again. They look forward to Transportation Month in June. The Acorns have finished up their unit on dinosaurs. They enjoyed going on a dinosaur egg hunt and making their own dinosaur eggs out of hard-boiled eggs. A few Acorns wondered if a real dinosaur would hatch out of their eggs. Clothing is their new topic. They have a clothing centre/store with a stage for fashion shows. Clothing from around the world will be shown as well. The Cat in the Hat and Smelly Socks are story books being read about clothes. Better weather will let them enjoy their summer clothes and be outside more. Val -n 70 Vf FROM WALTON Numbers big fun for Early Years The Walton Early Years Group has had small numbers but big fun. The children have enjoyed painting up a storm and so did their caregivers. They hid animals in rice, then sorted them by colour. Emma Taylor practised counting with the flower garden counting set and Caden Lee practised his gross motor skills, such as galloping, skipping and running. They enjoyed the parachute and sleeping animal game. Emma Taylor won a book draw for completing a site survey. It appears from the surveys that Duff's United Church rates very highly.
