The Blyth Thunder U-11 co-ed
soccer team played its fifth game of
the season on June 11. It was a home
game played at the Sparling field
against Clinton United. the
Thunders' game captain was forward
Micah Nonkes, who played an
excellent game getting the ball
towards the net.
The Thunder Was the first to score
in the game, when forward Courtney
Bos passed the ball to Brent Drost
for a goal.
A Blyth player had -a hand ball in
his own crease, so a penalty shot was
awarded to Clinton. A Clinton player
took the shot and scored to tie up the
game, 1-1.
In the second half of the game
Thunder halfback Brendon Boven
made a pass to forward Tanner
Merner, who dribbled the ball up the
field and passed to Drost for Blyth's

18, Brussels 4. •
The next home game is June 14 at

second goal of the game.
Coach Mary Ann Drost said, this
soccer game was very evenly
matched with excellent playing
effort by both teams.
"Clinton kept the pressure on and
took several shots on the Blyth net
during the last few minutes of the
game. Blyth's goaltender Greg
Roetcisoender played an excellent
game and didn't allow Clinton to
score again.
The Thunder played the game with
only two subs, as some players were
absent. Each player rose to the call
for 'extra effort' to play the game
with longer shifts. Our terrific
defensive players Kelly MacDonald,
Jeanette Schramm and Lucas
Frawley played the entire game. The
whole team is working very hard this
year and the results are shown with
another win," said Drost.
Thunder wins 2-1
