the meeting in Jerusalem was a
gathering of people from many
different countries and areas
adjacent to the city. When they,

immediately they all spoke and
understood each other in their own
native tongues.
It had been promised by Jesus that
a counsellor, the Spirit of Truth,
would be sent to God's people and
thus Pentecost fulfilled this promise
when the Holy Spirit descended on
the people as they met to pray
together and talk of the wonders of
God.
Rev. Campbell then had the
congregation turn to their reference
booklet and read together the section
entitled God the Holy Spirit.
Collection was taken up by Bill
Aitchison, Brian Armstrong and
Doug McArter. When the service
ended, the congregation was invited
downstairs to enjoy a finger food
luncheon served by Mary Huether
and Leona Armstrong. Proceeds
from this luncheon will go to help
others through Presbyterians
Sharing.
A special thanks was given to
Holly McCutcheon of Grandma's
Attic who held a fundraising sale for
the church. last week. Winner of the

In her presentation. The Conductor.
Kasey took on the role of Harriet
Tubman to narrate her story of
slavery in the cotton fields, her
escape to Canada with the help of
abolitionists and how she returned
time after time as Moses, a
conductor assisting others on the
route to freedom in Canada.
Kasey gave much insight into this

her people.

reader Leona Armstrong.
In her sermon, Making a
Difference, Rev. Campbell
continued the theme of Kasey's
speech about slavery. She referred
to the scripture lesson of Acts 16
whereby Paul cast out the spirit of
divination from the slave girl in the
market place, thereby healing her
but to her owners this made her
valueless because now she could no
longer be a fortune-teller. Because of
this healing Paul and Silas were cast
into prison.
