By Bonnie 6ropp Citizen editor While reports regarding the tornado damage in Mitchell, May 22, played across the airwaves, a Londesborough-area family was busy putting their life back in order. Rick Packer of RR I, Londesborough said that on that same evening a tornado touched down on his farm taking out a 40x100-foot drive shed and a 5,000 bushel granary. High winds ripped the roof from his home, totalled the pool and one vehicle while damaging a second automobile. On Monday, May 24 some 200 people descended on the Packer farm to provide assistance with clean-up. "They were everywhere picking up debris," said Packer. Even in the sodden soybean fields where water in spots lay a foot deep.
