The unique thing about this Kitchener-area group is that they drove antique cars on their tour from Kitchener to Goderich. Kitchener car club members make local stops By Elyse DeBruyn Citizen staff Sunshine and warm temperatures made last Wednesday a perfect day tor a Huron County tour, especially since the tour was in four antique cars. Boxes, are in the post office and Stickers restaurant for a donation to a gift- for Courtney Rutledge, July bride-elect. The Auburn Lions Club meeting was on June 2 at 7:15 p.m. at the Auburn Community Hall. Auburn's Women's Institute will be catering the meal. Just want to wish Anita Little and John Verwey good luck in the National Mixed Doubles Championship at the Canadian National Dart Tournament that will be held in Summerside, Prince Edward Island on June 8-10. We are all rooting for a repeat performance of the Ontario team winning the championship and the mixed doubles. On May 26 members of the Silver Tops went to Blyth Memorial Hall. The Blyth Seniors Club had a guest speaker who talked about how to trace family history. 'Card games were played after the presentation. A bus trip is planned for June 3 to the Erland Lee (Museum) Home in Stoney Creek for members of the Auburn Women's Institute and friends, Pick up time will be in Blyth at 8:45 a.m. Happy birthday wishes go out to Gail Fraser, Norma Jeffery, Noreen Walker, Rob Renon, Gerry McPhee, Caitie MacDonald, Vic Corran, Jeff MacDonald, Roger Mailloux. HASC started in 1963 as a horseless carriage group travelling Margaret Swan, Harry Worsell, Grant MacPhee, Matt Townsend, William Anderson, Ryan Smyth, Ruth Gordon, Loretta Thompson. Jane Rodger, Lofie Ferrell, Spencer Coates, Katheryn Chamney, Ryan McPhee, Jacob Renon, Stephen Gallagher Hildebrand. Cliff Schultz, Alex Chisholm, Christopher Cartwright, Cindy Fenton and Alison Bell. • Happy anniversary to Ken and Dianne Siertsema, Paul and Karen Cook. Mark and Tracy Turner, Brandy and Joel Greiner, Doug and Cindy Fenton, Jim and Grace Cartwright and Brian and Alison Wightman. Pat Hunking welcomed members of the Walkerburn Club to her home on May 14. Deanna Snell opened the meeting with two readings, Weeds, and Your Dash. She followed with prayer. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Betty Archambault. the area. Thelma Dugan of Kitchener, said the tour, consisting of eight retired citizens driving four antique cars, started in Kitchener and ended in Goderich, making many stops along the way to "visit interesting places.- and the treasurer's report was given by Bernice Norman. The roll call was answered by things people were looking forward to this summer. The next meeting is on June 22 at the home of Eileen McClinchey. Members will he tying lap quilts and should bring their darning needles. The Auburn Hall is booked for Sept. 26 to celebrate the Walkerburn Club's 85th anniversary. All former members will be invited. As some_ families of the Walkerburn Club are putting their own floats in the 150th parade. it was decided the club wouldn't put one in. Jacquie McKee was a very capable auctioneer for the plant sale. A social half hour was enjoyed over a delicious lunch served by Pat Hunking. After lunch, everyone went across the road to Sanders Greenhouses, with several buying more plants before leaving for home. Dugan, host for last week's tour, said the tours are usually on weekends, but she thought she'd try something new and hold one in the middle of the week The eight friends enjoyed their time browsing through Nature's Nest before taking off to their next location in Auburn at Chamney's Collection. From there, they travelled to an automotive museum in Goderich to admire eight more antique cars. They also made a trip down Huron Road, which Dugan said is a "historical road with lots of interesting places to see." "Cruising in old cars, driving through the countryside and stopping at interesting places along the way is the best part," said Dugan. Wrapping up their exciting one- day adventure, the group enjoyed a delicious dinner in Stratford. These eight friends included Ted and Jean Farrelly of Aylmer, driving a 1956 Pontiac, Brian Dugan of Waterloo and George Milne were driving a 1965 Buick Skylark convertible, Tom and Bea Collins of Guelph drove a 1962 Chrysler New Port and Dugan with her husband Terrance, drove a 1983 Buick Rivera convertible from California, one of only 90 in Canada. Ted Farrelly said the best part of -the tour for him is "a day out with friends." Dugan and her husband Terrance, are the editors of HASC magazine, Klaxton, which promotes HASC and covers interesting events happening in local areas. ,If interested in joining HASC or for more information. about it, contact Dugan at 51-9--579- 0697.
