TO CONSIDER 2004 BUDGET
Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 291 of the Municipal
Act that the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of
Morris-Turnberry will be considering the 2004 Budget, with the
intention to adopt and/or amend the budget at a Public Meeting
to be held on:
Thursday, June 10, 2004 at 9:00 p.m.
in the Council Chambers located at 41342 Morris Rd., R.R. 4,

Sharon Marie, daughter of Bruce and Marie Bergsma, Londesboro and
Heike Hindrik. son of Henk and Annie Hofman, Palmerston, were united
in marriage on June 28, 2003 at the Londesboro United Church by Pastor
Chris Schievink. Standing up with the bride was maid of honour, Cathy
Damen, bridesmaids. Amy Whyte, Joanne Griedanus, Barb Bps, all
friends of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Leanne Ryan, niece of the
bride and Anita Hofman, niece of the groom. Flowergirl was Shannon
Ryan. niece of the bride. Standing up with the groom was best man Mike
Claus. friend of the groom and ushers Jaap Hofman, brother of the
groom. Grist Bergsma, brother of the bride and Hans Dekker, friend of
the groom. Ringhearer MIS Patrick Bergsma, nephew of the bride.
Readers were Hilda Nieland, sister of the groom and Ingrid Hofman.
niece of the groom. The organist was Barb Bosman and the pianist was
Karen Bergsma, sister of the bride. The soloist was Georgina Johnston.
friend of the bride. A reception was held in Belmore. Sharon and Heike
now reside near Gorrie. We would like to thank everybody for making
our day so special.

Palliative Care board meets in church

many guests to the May meeting. It
began with the Ode. the Mary
Stewart Collect and 0' Canada.

Isabelle Craig introduced Leona
Armstrong from Brussels as the
guest speaker. She and her husband
Jim had gone to Tasmania to attend
the conference of the Associated
Country Women of the World. There
were 600 delegates and guests to
celebrate the 75th anniversary of the
founding of ACWW. including
representatives from 70 countries.
Mrs. Armstrong showed many
pictures to illustrate the landscape.

They went on some bus tours into
the countryside and to see different
industries.
The retiring president is from
Ireland and the new president
installed is from South Africa.
Isabelle thanked Leona for a most
interesting talk and presented her
with a gift.
Several lucky women were given
geranium plants.
During the business meeting the
roll call was answered by -stating
volunteer hours since the last
meeting.
The WI will have a bake tale at
the Show and Shine event on June
26. The District annual meeting will
be held on May 31 at Wingham
Salvation Army Hall with
registration beginning at 9:15 a.m.
The next meeting will be on June
15 with a visit to, Pianovations at
Londesborough.
The meeting closed with the
singing of God Save the Queen. and
the WI Grace.
Lunch was served by Audrey
Fenton, Mary Hallahan and Ada
Taylor and a social time followed.
The annual meeting of the
Wingham and Area Palliative Care
board was held in the basement of
Knox United Church. Belgrave, on
Thursday, May 20.
A roast beef dinner was served to
the board members, volunteers and
guests by the United Church Women
Evening Unit. Muriel Coultes,
acting chairperson welcomed
everyone and conducted the
meeting.
Harpist. Anita Leschied of
Windsor, was the guest speaker. She
told Many stories and demonstrated
how she uses- her harp in the
Windsor hospital. and local nursing
homes. She explained how music
has varied effects on patients and
quite often is the source of great
comfort to those suffering terminal
illnesses.
The business meeting was opened
with the acting chairperson's report,
and followed by the election of
officers. Muriel Coultes, Belgrave
was acclaimed as chairperson;
Margaret Hogg of Wroxeter was
acclaimed as secretary; and Kathy
The North Huron Special Transit
Corporation (Wheels Away)
recently received a cheque from
Huron United Way in the amount of
$3,200, half of the year's allocated
amount of $6,400.
Also receiving funds from UW for
the year 2003 are member agencies:
Big Brother Big Sisters South
Huron, $10,000; Big Sisters
Association of North Huron,
$10.600; Epilepsy Ontario, Huron-
Perth-Bruce, $10,000; Family
Services. Perth-Huron (Credit
Adams, Wingham was acclaimed as
treasurer.
The 2003-2004 financial report
was approved, as well as the budget
for 2004-2005. Various fundraising
events took place during the past
year and over $9,000 was raised.
Already this year they have
participated in the National Hike for
Hospice and held a ladies' night out
with Jubal's Daughters entertaining.
Kathy Procter, director, reported
that there are 20 volunteers
providing this much-needed service,
and a total of over 2,300 hours were
recorded. A total of 78 clients have
been served.
Services that are offered by
palliative care include bereavement
support, cancer support as well as
palliative care in the local hospital,
the nursing homes in the
surrounding areas, as well as caring
for clients in their own homes.
Volunteers have taken part in
training workshops in the past year,
led by Huron County Palliative Care
Committee, of which Ms Procter is
the chairperson.

Volunteer Services, $10,000; Huron
Safe Homes for Youth, $20,000;
Midwestern Adult Day Service.

Shelter, Second Stage Housing and
Counselling Services of Huron.
$12,000.
The total allocation amount is
$110,600.
Those workshops included The
Face of AIDS in 2003; Dementia
2003. put on by the Alzheimer
Society and Boundaries of
Caring.
The Wingham and Area Palliative
Care board is always looking for
new members, and would appreciate
anyone interested in finding our
more about this caring community
of volunteers, contacting Ms Procter
at 357-2720 or Muriel Coultes, 357-
1908. The volunteers spend their
many hours of service in all the
surrounding communities of
Wingham and representation from
those communities would be
appreciated.
The volunteers and board
members were thanked by Ms
Procter and given a small token of
appreciation by the board.
