Did you hear bells? If you admit
to a yes in the past week then you
must have been in Brussels. The St.
Ambrose congregation is the proud
owner of a bell. They received this
pretty nice gift from the VanNes
family so that church celebrations
could be properly noted with the
sweet sounds of bell ringing.
Practise runs were heard in the
village this week in preparation for
Terri Anne's wedding. The bells
rang with great joy on Saturday as
this new stage of life was
celebrated. So enjoy the bell sounds
knowing you really weren't hearing

things — again.
Isn't it truly amazing what the
thought of an extra day makes. For
the Monday to Friday workers the
first long weekend of the summer
was met with hope. Even the
forecast of rain and storms didn't
let the anticipation of extra time off
work be diminished. Plans were set
with everything from tenting to
lawn-and garden cleanup to taking
machinery apart and having the
leisure to put things right again.
The gift of time is a thought
stopper. It's the opportunity to
consider the not regular things to do
and taking the chance that the hours
will stretch to meet your goal.
The folks I watched all weekend
seem to enjoy the days of May.
The high school gang are getting
ready for the end of their year.
Plans for the fall are in progress,
needs being met for summer jobs
and the preparation of final work
FROM BRUSSELS
needed to complete this year of
study. So lighten up around this
gang as you try to recall the
numerous problems of life that all
seem to hit at the same time.
Support and encourage their
industrious souls as they work their
way to joys of being an adult. Now
that is stress.
Have you talked to George
Langlois about advertising your
garage, porch or lawn sale with the
business group on Saturday? It's a
good way to support community
with a unified group offering their
treasures to the public all in one
day. So give George a call and get
your goodies all gathered up.
Oh, by the way, the SR's is
hoping you'll be discreet about
your leftovers and don't just dump
them there. Please, they only want
saleable items unless you're
sending along a few bag tags.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
