Students from the district area competed in a variety of scientific and technological activities including crane and boat construction. From left: Grade 7 students B.J. Auburn's 150th Celehration Committee is looking for someone to look after. or help with creating a float. on their behalf, to go into the Wingham parade on July 3 at noon. Anyone interested call Cathy at 526- 7217., There will he Village Beautification Awards in honour of the 150th Celebration. Let's make everyone proud of our village for the homecoming. Prizes will • he awarded on Saturday. July 24. The awards arc sponsored by the Auburn Horticultural Society and the 150th Celebration Committee. Knox United Church had guest speakers on Sunday. Paul and Marilyn Elgie. Paul provided three piano solos He also had spiritual readings from I Thessalonians 1: 1-5. 5: 16- 24. John 15: 9-17. Marilyn's message was The Ultimate Friendship. The Auburn Women's Institute meeting on May 20 has been can- celled. The next meeting will he held on June 17. There was good attendance at last week's Coffee Club with 16 people coming out and enjoying a social hour. Condolences to the family of Jane Peck who passed away last week. The funeral was held on Monday, May 17 in Blyth. Friends and neigh- hours in Auburn will miss her. Happy birthday to Julie Plunkett, Brett Bean, "'Courtney Bakker, Danielle Bean. Brandy Greiner, Anita Wilson. Debbie Delbergue, On Wednesday, May 5 the Wawanosh 4-H Club started their new club on social recreation, which is what people do with others in their time off. They welcomed their new members. . Sarah and Bradley Ritchie, Sean and Melissa Boyle. Sarah Ritchie was elected president of the club. The other officers are Ellen Jefferson as vice-president and Sophie Jefferson as secretary and press reporter. The members learned that social recreation is anything they do in their spare time. such as playing cards, playing catch, and of course. 4-H. June Robinson and Mary Ellen .Foran showed the members some games that can be played at social recreation events, like showers, church picnics, and family reunions. The first game the club played was called Wink. The members formed a circle of chairs. Next they split into two groups, with one of those having one person extra than the other. The larger group stood around the out- side and the smaller group sat on chairs. The person standing behind the chair which is empty winked at the others in the chairs, and those who were winked at tried to make it to the empty chair without being._ touched by the person behind their chair. The next game was called Animal Scramble. The members were each given an animal, like a pig or duck. Everyone closed their eyes, spread out and made the noise of the ani- mal, which they were given. The members then tried to find the per- son making the same animal noise as them. It was very loud and more dif- ficult than it sounds. The last game was Who Am I? Mary Ellen taped the name of a famous person, like Paul Martin, Hilary Duff and Don Cherry to the members' backs. Then the individu- als started to ask each other yes or no questions about whom they were.
