No phone registrations
- Aqua Tots (for children who can't touch the bottom will be
offered in June as well due to the high interest last year).
There will be swim team sign up as well.
Pool passes will be available.
First come - first served for June lessons - remember the water
is going to be warm.

34 members attend WI potluck
The Belgrave Women's Institute
meeting began with a potluck supper
for 34 members and guests, with
grace said by Rev: John Roberts.
The president. Kay Roberts.
introduced four students from East
Wawanosh Public School who gave
their winning speeches. They were
Caroline McDowell. Brittany
Haines. Kaytee Richmond and J.D.
Shiell. Students were congratulated
on their accomplishments and given
a gift.
The business meeting began with
the Opening Ode and Mary Stewart
Collect. The roll call was answered
by paying the yearly fees.
Doreen Marks read the minutes of
the previous meeting and the
financial statement. A donation will
be sent to the Children's Hospital at
London and members were asked to
support the Walk for Palliative Care.
The WI will contribute to the
Show and Shine event to raise funds
for playground equipment at the ball
park, to be held on June 26.
The Huron West District annual
meeting will be on May 31 at the
Wingham Salvation Army Church.
The District is hosting a bus trip on
June 3 to tour the Erland Lee
Museum and the Hoodless
Homestead.
The annual meeting began with
Doreen Marks, as secretary, reading
the minutes of last year's meeting.
Reports were given by Gladys Van
Camp for PRO, Norma Moore for
curator, Ivy Cloakey for sick and
shut-ins, Wilma Higgins for
education co-ordinator and Dorothy
Coultes for lobbying.
The slate of officers for 2004-
2005 was presented by Nancy
Jardin. The District President, Mabel
Jacklin installed the new officers as
follows: past president, Isabel
Campbell; president, Kay Roberts;
first .vice-president, Audrey Fenton;
second vice-president, Nancy
Jardin; secretary-treasurer. Doreen
Marks; assistance secretary, Dorothy
Coultes; education, Ruth Olson;
district director, Audrey Fenton;
alternate, Jean Nethery; Branch
directors, Nancy Jardin, Dorothy
Coultes, Ruth Olson; PRO, Gladys
Van Camp; assistant, Ivy Cloakey;
curator convenor, Mary Hunter;
lobbying, Dianna Robinson; sick
and shut-ins. Ivy Cloakey;
Christmas, Dorothy Coultes, Mary
Hunter; pianists, Mary Coultes,
Gladys Van Camp; examiners,
Norma Moore, Dianna Robinson.
Mrs. Jacklin congratulated
everyone and wished the Branch a
successful year. She was presented
with a plant in appreciation.
The next meeting will be on May
18 with a guest speaker,
There were 10 tables of shoot in
play on Friday, April 30 at the
Belgrave Community Centre.
Winners were: high lady, Lillian
Appleby; second high lady, Jean
Deans; most shoots, Norma Moore;
low lady, Jane Glousher; high man,
Joanne MacDonald: second high
man, Helen Stonehouse; most
shoots, Stuart Chamney; low man,
Ross Taylor.
The next shot is Friday, May 14 at
1:30 p.m.
There were eight tables of euchre
in play on Wednesday, April 28 at
the Women's Institute Hall.

Our mistake

Citizen the soup and sandwich
lunch on April 24 was given by the
Knox Presbyterian Church of
Belgrave's WMS.
The Citizen apologizes for the

10 tables in play
at Belgrave shoot
Delicious dinner
Juicy ham, cheesey potatoes, fresh vegetables and sweet
pies were enjoyed by many local residents during the
Belgrave Knox United Church's ham and scalloped potato
dinner at the Belgrave arena on April 28. Proceeds of the
dinner will go towards repairs for the entrance roof of the
church. Front left, Linda Logan, Mary Forsyth, Aleta Conn

Morris-Turnberry briefs
At the Morris-Turnberry council
meeting on April 27, Bill Vodden, a
municipal auditor from Vodden,
Bender and Seebach, joined the
meeting to present the financial
report to council.
Vodden confirmed that the
municipality is in a good financial
position is the reserves which are
about $500.

Council agreed to sponsor a
fundraiser for the Belgrae
playground for $70 plus $40 for
prizes with a cap of $200.

Councillors accepted the tender
for calcium chloride from Da Lee
Dust Control at the quoted price of
$278.49 per tonne plus GST, in
accordance with the quote received
by the South Bruce municipality.

Council decided not to authorize a
large item pickup this year in the
Morris-Turnberry municipality.

After some discussion, council
decided not to support the North
Huron brochure. However, during
the discussion, the fact was raised
that if the Morris-Turnberry
municipality had been asked for
input into the brochure, they would
have gladly supported the project.

Councillors agreed to apply for a
summer student under the Rural
Service Job program.
***
Council agreed that a letter be sent
to the Wingham and District
Hospital, suggesting that the hospital
establish a cost-sharing agreement
with all applicable municipalities in
the catchment area for the physician
recruitment program. Once it is
established that all municipalities are
sharing the costs, Morris-Turnberry
will be willing to pay their share of
the costs.

The community extends specia
birthday greetings to Doris Michie
and Harold Vincent who celebrated
their 90th birthdays on May 2 and to
John Thompson who was 50 and
Monica Fear who will be 60 on May
11.
Congratulations to Brian Marks
and Charlene Franken who were
married on May 1 at St. James
Catholic Church in Seaforth.
The community extends
congratulations to Peter (son of the
former Betty Rinn) and Cheryl
Kuntz on the birth of David Andrew
born in Kitchener hospital on May 1.
This was the sixth great-grandchild
of the late May Rinn.
The Park Enhancement
Committee is having a breakfast
brunch at the arena on Sunday. May
9 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
On Saturday, May 15 from 5 p.m.
- 8 p.m. the Belgrave Optimists are
hosting a fish fry at the Belgrave
Community Centre. Tickets are
available at 357-1417 or can be
purchased at the door.
