Sisters Leola Harrison and Lillian Moses from Listowel and Sister Reta Merkley from Wingham attended. The inaugural meeting for the District Deputy President elect of Huron Perth 23, will be Monday, May 17 at 2 p.m. in Stratford. Eight plan to attend the 50th birthday celebration of Hillcrest Lodge, St. Marys on Saturday, May 29. Sisters Gertie Kellington and Joyce Jacklin are' at Rebekah Assembly sessions in London on May 3, 4, 5. Nominations were finalized for elected officers for term 2004- 2005: Noble Grand, Elva Brown; Vice Grand, Jane Hall; secretary, Rene Richmond; financial By Jo-Ann McDonald It was a busy week getting ready for the Legion's silent auction held on the weekend. The Cadets removed the chairs so there was plenty of space to display the many items. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were spent numbering, tagging and arranging the over-I60 items donated by the members and friends of the Branch. There were many people in on Friday evening and a great crowd on Saturday afternoon when time was called and the bidding ceased. The Thursday night dart league had only nine players taking part. The first-place team was John in secretary, Lois McCall; treasurer, Joan Bernard. A donation was made to Huron- Perth Children's Aid Society for children's camp. 100F and Rebekah Humanitarian Services Committee requests that anyone who has equipment on loan that is presently not being used please contact 887-9340 or 887-9303 for pick up. High starts were shot by Adam Smith, 92, and Sandra Josling, 90. On Thursday evening the Brussels Ladies' slo-pitch league held its starting meeting in the lounge at the Branch. A new team requested to join. This was discussed and accepted. Games will begin Thursday, May 27. The Friday night supper of goulash was delicious. This week is meatballs and rice. On Saturday, the euchre team of Harry Smith, Cecil Moore, Norm Dobson and Jo-Ann McDonald travelled to Hanover to participate in the provincial level of play. They had a good day, not good cards, but were proud to represent Branch 218, Brussels. They played against nine teams including ones • from Spencerville, Toronto, Sudbury and Kapuskasing. There were 26 Branches from across Ontario in attendance. Get well wishes go out fo Comrades Bob Cochrane, Pete Exel, Sandy Huether, and Jo-Ann McDonald. All are home and recovering. Provincial Service Officer appointments must be made by Friday with Comrade Mabel Glanville. Summer sports sheets are up and anyone interested in golf, horseshoes or baseball can check the hoard. Residents gathered at the Royal Canadian Legion Brussels trying to out-bid each other in the two-day silent auction hosted by the Brussels Legion on April 30 and May 1. Many different prizes to bid on included gift baskets, hand-made knitted articles and woodworking pieces.
