Blyth resident brings character back to life
By Bonnie Gropp
Citizen editor
A Blyth resident is reviving a
favourite, character for a production at
The Livery in Goderich.
Anne Elliott will be back as Greta
Metro in Rob'Bundy's Gail and Brad's
Marvelous Wedding Adventure.
Elliott first played the role in 1997
at Blyth Festival, where the show had
been created by Bundy as a trilogy of
fundraisers for the theatre. The story
centres around a young couple who
have to move their wedding from the
church because of construction. "They
run into a mountain of problems that
holds up the ceremony," said Elliott.
"It leaves the audiencewondering if
they are ever going to get married."

Attention will be drawn to some
store windows in Blyth as art students
hang their masterpieces for a student
exhibit in connection with the Bainton
Show Art Gallery.
The show will begin at 7 p.m. on
May 7 and will run until May 28 at the
Blyth Memorial Hall.
Greg Sherwood, art teacher at F.E.
Madill Secondary School, in
Wingham, said they (the students)
asked local stores to host their
paintings so they could reach a wider
grandmother of the bride. "I was
invited back to play it for The Livery
production. She's my favourite role, a
loving, doting grandmother,
concerned for her family. She likes to
have a good time and doesn't act her
age."
The acting bug bit Elliott a long
time ago. She was involved in drama
at school and has been part of many
productions in Blyth, including a stint
as an extra in the professional remount
of Quiet in the Land.
"Having the Festival here has given
me so many opportunities. I'm •
grateful for the things I've done here.
It's the best of both worlds. I live in a
great community and have fulfilled a
dream."
Among the many amateur
productions that Elliott has been
audience and draw more people to its
Festival to help celebrate the 30th
anniversary, where there will be more
art work to enjoy.
He said the artwork . of high and
elementary school students from
Grade 7 through to Grade 12 in both
Huron-Perth Catholic schools and the
Avon Maitland District School Board,
will be displayed in the stores.
The public is welcomed to view the
amazing artwork at Memorial Hall,
any time during gallery hours, but are
always welcomed to take a walk down
the streets of Blyth to get a sneak peek
of what lies inside at the gallery show.
involved with at Blyth Festival have
been children's show. "I'm
particularly proud of those."
The most recent was Peter and the
Wolf, performed last October and
directed by Duncan McGregor, who is
also directing Wedding. "Duncan is
great to work with, very professional."
His connection to the show at The
Livery came about because of Bundy,
who has ties to the Goderich Little
Theatre group. "Duncan, Rob, it's
been a unit that's worked together over
a span of 15 years. We all really love
working together. It's a-good bunch."
The addition of new people from
Goderich for this production of
Wedding has just been wonderful.
Elliott adds.
Elliott also has high praise for the
Festival's co-operation outside the
community. They have loaned many
items to the production. "We
appreciate it. There is a good working
relationship between Eric (Coates,
festival artistic director) and Duncan.'
Other special guests taking part in
The Livery show are the ever-popular
Nasty Habits, worth the price of
admission alone.
The troupe of local gentlemen.
Steve Cook, Warren Moore, Jeff
Peters, Steve Howson, Brad Lewis.
Rick Elliott and Kevin Falconer, got
together in 1995 for a Blyth United
Church fundraiser several years ago.
"We were asked to get a Sister Act
type of thing going. It just kind of
snowballed."
The Nasty Habits antics resulted in a
popularity that snowballed. "It was
crazy. They were getting so many
calls. It was starting to interfere with
worklife," said Elliott who is married
to Nasty Habit Rick.
The group has performed for church
concerts, in amateur plays, at seniors'
homes, for variety nights and
fundraising programs, at Parkwood
Hospital in London and are a popular
feature of the annual Village
Christmas.
