It was an exciting day for local Agricultural Societies this
past Saturday. Anita Kreutzwiser, of the Walton_area, right,
representing the Seaforth Agricultural Society was named
ambassador for District 8 of the Ontario Association of
Agricultural Societies April 24. Mandy Mitchell, Brussels
Fall Fair ambassador, also a resident of the Walton area,
was runner-up. There were 10 ambassadors in the compe-
tition which was held at the Betty Cardno Centre in
Clinton.They took part in interviews. workshops and tours.
Speeches and announcement of the winner was in the

Brussels Livestock report
Fed steers, heifers sell $3-$5 higher
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending April
23 were 2,763 head of cattle. 708
lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed
steers and heifers sold at prices $3 to
$5 higher. Fancy and double muscle
steers and heifers sold $90 to $100
with sales up to $107. Choice steers
and heifers sold $87 to $90 and sec-
ond-cut steers and heifers sold $78
to $83. The cows traded on a steady
market. On Thursday the veal sold at
prices slightly higher than last week.
The lambs sold on a steady trade
with good demand. On Friday the
calves traded at prices $5 to $10
higher while the yearlings sold $2 to
$5 higher.
There were 511 steers on offer.

Their overall offering of sixty-eight
steers averaged 1,509 lbs. selling for

1,335 lbs. which sold to Dominion
Meat Packers for $96. His overall
offering of two steers averaged
1,348 lbs. selling for an average
price of $93.15. Five limousin steers
consigned by Edenview Acres,
Centralia. averaged 1,468 lbs. sell-
ing to Ryding Regency for $95.
Their overall offering of fourteen
steers averaged 1.485 lbs. selling for
an average price of $90.30. Joseph
M. Bauman, Newton, consigned
nineteen steers averaging 1,368 lbs.

$89.35 with his top limousin steer
weighing 1,390 lbs. selling for $98.

Meat Packers for $94.75. His overall
offering of thirteen steers averaged
1,479 lbs. selling for an average

aging 1,620 lbs. which sold for an
average price of $85.64 with his top
black steer weighing 1,420 lbs. sell-
ing for $100.75. Thirty-five steers
consigned by Mrs. Minerva Martin,
Mount Forest, averaged 1,448 lbs.

weighing 1,360 lbs. selling to
Dominion Meat Packers for $95.
There were 267 heifers on offer.
James Frey, Chesley, consigned
three limousin heifers averaging
1.245 lbs. which sold to Ryding
Regency for $97.75. His overall
offering of twenty heifers averaged
1,286 lbs. selling for an average
price of $90.07. Sixteen limousin
heifers consigned by Merkley
Farms, Wroxeter, averaged 1,247
lbs. selling for an average price of
$94.21 with sales up to $97.25.
Hank Huigenbos, Wingham, con-
signed two limousin heifers averag-
ing 1.260 lbs. which sold for an
average price of $93.74 with sales
up to $97.25. Five limousin heifers
consigned by Murray Dutton,
Thorndale. averaged 1,223 lbs. sell-
ing for an average price of $93.05
with sales to$93.25.
One limousin heifer consigned by

1.215 lbs. which sold for$95.25. His
overall offering of three heifers

sales to $58.50; D3, $20 to $25; D4,
$10 to $15; Shell Cows, $5 to $10.

charolais cows averaging 1,420 lbs.
which sold for•an average price of
$44.65 with sales to $54. One bwf
cow consigned by Bruce Higgins,
Brussels, weighed 1,360 lbs. selling
for $53.50. His overall offering of
four beef cows averaged 1,503 lbs.

signed one simmental cow weighing
1,625 lbs. which sold for $53.
There were seven bulls on offer
selling from $20 to $35 with sales to
$44.
There were 161 head of veal on
offer. Good Holstein sold $65 to $75
with sales to $84; Medium Holstein,
$50 to $60; Plain Holstein. $40 to
$50. George Ducharme. Dashwood,
consigned one red veal heifer weigh-
ing 695 lbs. which sold to Holly
Park Meat Packers for $95.50. His
overall consignment of two beef
veal heifers averaged 685 lbs. selling
for an average price of $95.01. Two
blue veal steers consigned by Bill
Devos .Jr., Bluevale, averaged 713
lbs. selling for $95. Doug Keys.
Varna, consigned two black veal
steers averaging 570 lbs. which sold

4-H Beef Club

The first meeting of the Brussels
Belgrave 4-H Beef Club opened
with the 4-H pledge.

for in an animal.
