The race is oh
The loud sound of dirt bikes revving up to begin a race could be heard at the Auburn Hills
racetrack as the annual motocross started with a bang on April 25. These bikers take a hard

The April meeting of the
Walkerburn Club was held at Betty
Archambault's. Due to the absence
of the co-presidents, Bernice
Norman was in charge of the
meeting.
Auburn Lions member Steve
Campbell was recently awarded one
of the highest awards in the Lions
Club. The International President's
Award from the International
President Dr. T.S. Lee.
Congratulations Steve.
The Auburn Women's institute
enjoyed dinner at Stickers
Restaurant, with invited guests of
Leona Robertson and Mabel Jacklin
the District president.
Following dinner the annual
meeting wa, held at the Auburn
Community Hall. The ' previous
meeting's minutes were read by
Tena Empey. The treasurer's report
was presented.
Other matters included the official
recognition of the current year's
Auburn's 150 Celebration
committee's general meeting will be
held on May 4 at the Knox United
Church at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is
welcome.
Come out and seek bargains at the
Auburn Community Yard Sale on
May I from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The
Auburn Lions Club is also holding a
pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to
noon.
Last week the Auburn Coffee Club
members, friends and family helped
Aileen Trommer celebrate her
birthday.
Twenty people were in attendance.

on May 31. This is a potluck, bring
dish, mug and articles for the sale

The meeting closed with the
Institute Grace. Lunch was served
by Tena Empey and Marg Fraser.

looking
for plants
The Auburn Horticultural Society
is looking for plants. While sprucing
up your garden in the spring, if you
have too many flowers and you
want to get rid of them don't throw
them out. Bring them to the
Sciciety's annual plant sale on May
17 at 7 p.m. sharp. The plants can be
dropped off at 4 p.m.
All proceeds from the sale will
help spruce up Auburn for the year,
this year being more important due
to the fact that Auburn is having its
150th celebration.
Auburn's Silver Tops met at
Stickers for lunqh,then went to Jim
and Grace Cartwiight's home for the
meeting. They saw a film on the
